well if you don't know anything i say stop there!
why are you trying to do an engine swap anyway? to get 10-15 more hp? the car is not gonna all of a sudden be a street racer. swaping engines is a lot of work it's definately cost you more then the car is worth at this point. and there are millions of little things that always go wrong or are tricky after the job. everything from connecting the exhaust correctly to wire terminals I've rebuilt several cars, so trust me, unless its a classic muscle car or you got a new engine for free it most likely won't be worth the headache.
do you also have all the correct tools.. as in engine hoists, torque wrenches, or clutch alignment tools?

motor dude

Actully I do have access to those kind of tools...I'm a Navy mechanic we carry various Torque wrenches, I have a friend that has a engine hoist, and another friend who has clutch alignment tools...But The only reason why I wanted to do the engine swap was just to see if I can get more power out of it...I really don't know much about euros and I can seem to find any performance parts for my car anywhere it was just a thought...

i don't mean to be offensive at all... but ya there's a reason why you can't find any performance parts. I don't doubt your ability to do it, I personally just don't recomend it, not for that small amount of horsepower gain at least any way.

I'm doing an engine swap in my car right now, and it's a pain. Mainly because I accidently got into rebuilding the engine. I haven't even started taking out the old engine yet, and I'm allready tired of it. But if you have a turnkey engine, then it won't be as bad as my engine. On a side note, does anyone know where I can get a good cylinder head for a 1986 GTi 4 cyl. Thanks, and good luck with your car.
