speed sensor

bought a used 700R4 and it came with the electronic VSS sensor, but i need the mechanical one that uses a speedo cable(dont really know what it's called) i searched around ebay a bit and didn't see much, called the 2 junkyards in my town and no luck there. so does anyone know where i could get one? new/used whatever i dont care. i gotta feeling the GM dealership in my town is gonna charge me out the ass for one. also, does anyone know the diameter of the threaded fitting that the speedo cable screws to? and...are any of em interchangable?(th400, 200R4, etc.) i know the th350 isn't

umm, first are you sure that it is actualy the 700 and not like a 4l80E or 4l60e, what ever one is the same as the 700. and second are you talking about the part that actualy goes into the trans is somehow electonic and doesnt have the part to screw on the cable, im not up on the electonic stuff to much. i only mess with what i need to for old cars. like the lockup and stuff like that. let me look around and see if a couple sights i know have anything.

for anyone needing stuff for a 2004r or a 700R4 bowtie overdrives is an amazing company. especialy swaping an overdrive into a non lockup car and stuff like that.

I am doing the same kind of conversion right now, putting a 94 LT1 into a 67 El Camino... You are probably going to have to change the whole trans tailshaft. This web site sells what you are looking for

The tail shaft conversion comes with everything to change over to a cable speedo. You might have to download their online catalog to get the info, but they have a lot of other cool stuff..... Also this website has a similar kit were you can buy pieces seperatly.

that looks like the one i need, but man that's expensive lol. i was hoping to find a used one for like $15. the tranny is out of 90RS. i think it's still called a 700R4. i've got 2 tailshafts, the one the came on the tranny that has the speed sensor, and another tailshaft the came off an 88 700R4 that had a cable and both appear to be the same. i'm hoping to just find one out of a trans that originally used a speedo cable, i think it's pre-1990. guess if i cant find anything else i'll have to bust out the credit card

yea you have a 700r4, i have a 700r4 out of and 89 camaro, its cable, yours should be too
