how to replace rear trailing arm bushings?

i was wondering if anyone had instructions? first getting them out: do they need to be pressed or burned out with a torch? and after they're out do aftermarket bushings have to be pressed in or do they just slide in?

oh yeah.. just wondering what would happen if the rear suspension bushings gave out? i think mine are about to bite the dust.. the hatchback shakes when i'm going about 75 too.

Yeah, let me know too. I have no bushings left back there, all chewed up... wont pass inspection here in good old PA.

ok, for trailing arms its pretty easy. take the whole trailing arm off the car, and either burn or cut all the rubber out of the bushing. i used a hacksaw blade on one of those hacksaws that only hold the blade on one end. then i just cut the rubber from the outer ring, and then put the center pin in a vise and grinded the rubber off of it with an air grinder.

from there, i used a press and some grease to get the new bushings in. once i even used a rubber mallet and grease to do a job when i didnt have access to a press. once you get the bushing in, hammer the center pin in, and then bolt it all back in.

You might need an alignment too if you unbolt the compensator arm at the chassis instead of the trailing arm because the toe will be out of wack.
