Ok guys, I currently have a 97' RS with about 130k miles on it. It's in great condition for its age, but it is slow as hell (as you all undoubtebly know). Also, I purchased this car for $3700. ANYWAYS, my dad has a friend that he works with that owns a 96' GSX with about 120k miles on it. It is in even BETTER condition than mine is in and of course its much faster. It has never been raced and is completely stock. He said he would sell it to me for about $6500, maybe less. You dsm guru's lemme know if this is a decent price for this car. Thanks! =)

thats alot for that car; blue book may state a higher value but if you look around you can find a 95-96 gsx for between $4500 - $5500 with anywhere from 80k to 110k miles.
I've bought 3 awd DSMs in the past year. Two GSXs and one Tsi AWD talon.
1st GSX - $5300 w/96k miles in better than good condition
Talon Tsi AWD - $4500 w/103k miles in good condition
2nd GSX - $800 w/78k miles with a busted motor.. dumped another 5k into it for parts, labor, and rental car and have a nice ride now.
New GSX - 95 GSX with 6bolt motor w/ 78k original miles on it. Engine has been hot tanked, bored, and polished. Rods with any sign of problems were replaced and new J&E forged 9:1 pistons were put in. Evo exhaust manifold, evo 02 housing and evo iii big 16g all ported were put in with a full 3" apexi N1 exhaust. K&N intake with a greddy BOV type S, NGK plugs and wires, walbro 255lph fuel pump, apexi turbo timer and a S-afc II and FIC 660cc injectors took care of the air/fuel.
Hurst short shifter and something im forgetting finished it off.
End point: You can get alot more and alot better.. even if you dont want to build it... than your family friends gsx with high miles.
just my 2 cents............
