Tranny stuck in 3rd gear

I parked my 1993 eagle talon TSi for the winter, when I started it up in spring I was shocked to realise that I was only able to put it in and out of 3rd gear. I can put it in 3rd gear and it engages... i know this cuz i stalled it.... and i take it out and it's in neutral... I cannot move the lever to anyother gear... not even reverse....if anyone has any comments or idea's of what it could be PLEASE PLEASE let me know....

did you try disconnecting the shift linkage from the tranny to see if maybe the problem is the shifter and not the tranz? if i remember correctly its got two cables that run forward to the tranny unbolt them at the transmision and see if the shifter will move, if it does then the problem is in your transmission. depending on whether you want to come and get it i might sell you the tranny from my 1.8 thats got no motor. the 5spd trannys are all the same no matter what engine

Good call on the linkage,thats probably the awnser.
as far as the same trans for either motor im not sure. i have 90 and it is very hard to find the right one,and i know they are not the same for each motor for that year

i looked in my chiltons and it says that the FWD manual trannys for 90-94 are all the same. automatics are a different story though they have 4 different ones 1.8, 2.0 nt, 2.0 Turbo FWD (TSI), and 2.0 Turbo AWD (GSX)
