I am trying to verify this information. This is what I have shown for the 03 4Runner and Sequoia: Can anyone confirm this on the 04?
1. unlock all of the doors in the car, open the driver's side door, and make sure the key is not in the ignition
2. put the key into the ignition and then pull it out without turning it or anything
3. within 40 seconds, lock and then unlock the doors five times using the power lock button on the driver's side door.
4. close the door and then open it again
5. within 40 seconds lock and then unlock the doors five times again using the power lock button.
6. Put the key into the ignition and turn it to the on position (not acc and not far enough to actually start the engine) and then back to the off position, then back to on and back to off.
7. Pull the key out of the ignition
8. If you are successful, after about 5 seconds, the doors should power lock and then unlock on their own. If that doesn't happen then try again from step 1.
9. within 40 seconds, hold down the lock and unlock button simultaneously on the remote for a second. Then release and hold down the lock button for 3 seconds. The power locks should cycle again once on their own. If they don't cycle exactly once, repeat this step from the beginning with the remote again.
10. Repeat step 9 for every remote you want to program. You have to do this with any remotes that were previously programmed because this process essentially resets what remotes the car will respond to.
11. Close the driver's side door to signify that you are done programming the remotes.

This is what I have for the 04 05 Sienna:
previous remote ID’s will be erased. You will need to program new remote and all other working remotes when program mode is entered.
Transmitter Programming:
1. Close all doors (make sure key is not in the ignition).
2. Open drivers’ door.
3. Insert ignition key and remove (without turning key).
4. Close and Open drivers’ door 2 times.
5. Insert ignition key and remove (without turning key).
6. Close and Open drivers’ door 2 times.
7. Insert ignition key, DO NOT remove ignition key.
8. Close drivers’ door.
9. Turn ignition key from “OFF” to “ON” 2 times.
10. Remove ignition key.
11. Locks will cycle from LOCK/UNLOCK to confirm program mode has been entered.
12. Press and release the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons (at the same time) then press and release the LOCK button on the same remote, press and release the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons (at the same time) then press and release the LOCK button on the same remote locks will cycle again to confirm remote has been programmed.
13. If you’re programming more than one remote, with any additional remote repeat step 12 now.
14. To exit program mode, open and close drivers door and test remote.

While you're doing all the door shuttin and key turnin
You put your left foot in,
You put your left foot out,
You put your left foot in,
And you shake it all about!
It is cool that the owners are empowered to reprogram their own keys.
Just too bad the car makers didn't have a sense of humor, like instructing the programmer to shout aloud what color of under wear they have on.

I recently purchased an additional remote for my 2004 toyota 4runner from ebay and used the following instructions to program it. Please read all instruction before trying.
o Drive’s door open, key removed from ignition switch
o Within 5 seconds insert and remove the key from the ignition switch
twice
o Within 40 seconds close and open the driver’s door twice then insert
and remove the key from the ignition
o Within 40 seconds close and open the drive’s door twice, then insert
the key into the ignition and close the driver’s door
o Switch the ignition on and off one time to program a remote
transmitter code while retaining the original codes , two times to
program a remote transmitter and erase the original codes, three
times to check how many remotes transmitters are registered or
**five times to erase all codes**
o Remove the key from the ignition. The system will now lock and
unlock the vehicle
o Within 40 seconds press and hold the transmitter lock and unlock
buttons, together, for 1.5 seconds
o Within 3 seconds press the lock button on the transmitter.
o The system should now lock and unlock the vehicle. Once confirms
the programming, twice indicates failure
o Within 40 seconds repeat button procedure to program remaining
remotes.
o If additional remotes fail you may have exceeded the limit of remotes
allowed. **To fix this you must erase all remotes using the
procedures above and then reprogram the remotes you have**
Goodluck!

Well.. it didn't work. I did get the locks to cycle but when I pressed the transmitter for 1.5 seconds and the the lock for 3 seconds nothing happened. I changed the battery 3 different times to no avail. I am thinking my remote may be bad rather then the battery??? I wish there was a little light that would go on to let me know if there is power to the transmitter. My TV remote has one. Do you know, I can program a $5 tv remote with my eyes shut but I have to jump through hoops with a $20,000 dollar Auto. It should program it's self and make me eggs in the morning with what I paid.:shakehead
