Please Help!! My 1999 Pontiac Grand Am Gt (92000 Miles) Makes A Strange Rumbling Feeling While Driving..somewhere Around 1-2000 Rpm. (the Rumble Feels Like Im Driving Over A Rumble Strip In The Road) I Just Replaced The Spark Plugs And Wires, But No Change. It Started Doing It Around 35-40mph ( About 3 Months Ago) But Only In Drive At First... It Would Be Fine In 3rd Gear...now Getting Much Worse, Does It In 3rd As Well And At Higher Speeds Also. Has This Happend To Anyone Out There????? Any Helpful Input Would Be Great.. Thanks

either your wheels need to be balanced or your engine mounts( the rubber thing) are cracked. the are not expensive at all but have them checked first you can tell on some cars if you see the rubber cracked. You also might want to look under your car around each wheel and check the shocks. If they are covered in fluid you might need new shocks. Good luck

I had a similiar problem on a gm car...it turned out to be tires. I switched my front two around and the rumbling stopped. I don't know why this helped, but it did.

dirt in wheels makes it feel like your driving a vibrator , it dont matter if its one ounce on one side it will vibrate like crazy , if you have a steering wheel cover it can amplify the feeling through the steering wheel when it shakes. Theres many ways to clean wheels out completely depending on wheels/rims. Balancing , rotating , and alighning should be looked at and fixed if the cleaning doesnt help. At the same time get a 54 point done to ensure satisfactory Safety requirements. Every 3,000 miles check brakes while doing an oil change. Check pads , rotors , calipers , fluid levels and lines for leaks if level is low. Also any power train maintanence suggested in your owners manual should be followed closely. Never be afraid to have your car checked out by a liscenced mechanic if you cant fix it properly yourself. Some of those guys are nice enough to have a peek for free.
