I am getting ready to borrow my dad's CRX, but it cuts off after stress is applied to the engine from driving for more than a few minutes or from high revving and speed. The distributor has been replaced with a salvaged one, and I was told that when it cuts off, it doesn't get spark. Let me know what you think of this. I would hate to let a CRX with less than 35k miles go to waste(long story..)

check out the ignition cables... they might have contacact with the pin that holds them in place..(they are under the ignition so you have to take it out with a 10mm socket..) be sure to remember the timing. check it out..this could be the problem...(at least mine did..)

I will get my more mechanically inclined brother to check that out, but I asked him about the car and he said that the ignition module had been burnt up three times in the car since he had it over the course of less than 4 months.

Those dinky things die out a lot.. youd be better off buying a MSD blaster coil or a ACCEL supper coil. they cost under 45$ (that wouldent hurt your pocket that much...) if not, give the old junk yard a visit. its preety cheep so dont let them throw the car away. im sure that its probly something easy to fix so dont give up hope.. ask if you need any thing. Im sure i can help out..

I will definitely not be throwing away the car for many reasons. One, the very low mileage... I still haven't checked the wires, but I am going to check them visually myself because he remains busy. If I remain driving it for a while, I might drop under $100 into some performance/styling parts and some higher octane gas.

if all else fails... stick in a msd ignition. Its worth about 120$ for the whole kit and you can put your car to realy...trust me ... its worth the cash... But still..try to look for any of the things above i listed..
if you fix the problem,i could tell you some basic parts you can buy that are easy to install and not so expensive.. but first... you have to respond.

Alright, I'll be sure to try those things. I'd have to get the keys from him first to pop the hood. As far as the performance, I have thought about trying to get a cheap performance muffler that goes in the factory place and a better looking tip. Other than that, I am still unsure. If you'd like to contact me personally, e-mail me at [email protected].
