2000 impala RDS radio reset

My cd player on my 2000 impala quit working so I got on EBAY and found the same radio(manufactuer date 2003) for sale. Can the theftlock on this model be reset by the dealer to work in my car? I read somewhere where it uses the original vehicles VIN to create the serial number.

Your best bet is to go down to your local GM or Chevy dealership and ask them.
