Would a bad ECM cause my TCC not to operate as it should? Seems like my tranny rebuilder is doing a process of elimation as to the cause of the NO LOCK UP on the tranny. He supposenly replaced the converter and L/U switch and is still mystyfied by the problem. It may be time to visit the local Court House and open up some options.

Remember what I said before about hooking some test leads and a test light to the connector to see if the ecm is turning the clutch on? (or at least trying) He should do that, or , he should have a scan tool that will tell him if the ecm has the clutch switched on or off, like a snap-on scanner or a tech 1. Other related issues could be a bad ground on the solenoid or faulty wires from the ecm. By the way... does this guy actually run a BUISNESS?

There is a word I use to use when I was younger to describe people like this guy. I would call them a PUTZ. Today I left the car there and sure enough he is taking the car apart again. I now more than ever think he did not change the converter and is now going to do it. Believe me I will follow this up with some sort of legal action as I have already called a lawyer.
And ya he does run a business, its a franchise tranny shop that is a Nationally known repairer. I have E Mailed his corporate office and they are well aware of this problem. I see that if they can't fix the problem they will refund all the $$$ spent on it. Hopefully tomorrow will bring better news. Oh by the way the test did show that the ECM was calling for the tranny to lock up. So looks like converter or Lock up switch is at fault.

The converter and lock up solenoid should have been replaced the first time the tranny came out. That guy really is a putz. How much did this rebuild cost you anyway?

Total for the bill with "NEW" converter and no machined parts all new stuff was a little over a grand labor included. We did a diagnostic test and found out that the Lock up pigtail was defective and .......get this.... the BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH were at fault. The brake light has a purple/violet wire on it that actually shuts down and restarts the Lock up. So it looks like I'm off to the races and all appears good(SO FAR)I will be doing some cruising this week-end to see just how good it runs. As for the rest of the story....stay tuned.........

I have a 1986 Pontiac Fiero GT, and I need the pigtail alternator plug, but no one has it. Does any one know where I can find one?

Dozens of GM vehicles use the same alternator as the fiero. a trip to the junkyard should yield one in no time at all. .
