I need some serious advice. I cant make my mind up, and I know you cant make it up for me, but you can help...I hope. I am def. getting a 240, but I dont know whether to get an s13 or s14. And if I do get the s13 should I look for one w/ the SR already swapped in, or just save and do it myself? As far as the s14 goes, im too poor to get an SR for it.

As far as what I want it for, I want a light, fast, good handling car. for things such as autoxing because thats just what I do. And yes drifting may be fun too. Thats why I want the Sr mill! So any advise would be appreciated.

Get an s13. cheaper, lighter, easier to find. Do the swap yourself. Good learning experience, somewhat fun (until you get to the bolts you think you can't reach and the wiring), and you'll have the satisfaction that you did all that work yourself when your done. If you have little mechanical experience then get some friends that know what they are doing and they can help you. You'll want a few friends there to help you anyways while you're doing the swap.

good luck.

Those are all great cars, the question is of what quality do you want? And how much are you willing to spend?

S14's cost more because they are newer cars. You'll probably be spared some repair costs if you get one because it will have less miles.
S13 KA's cost less because they are older. Probably gonna have more miles.
S13/14 SR's cost more than both because they have pricey engine swaps. You will probably spend a lot of money maintaining it though, any one selling an SR swaped car has probably driven it pretty hard.

As I said though, they are all great cars, if you have a $5000-$6000 budget, you can easly pick up a nice Clean S13, Swap in an SR20, and have enough money left over to fix what ever else will probably need fixing.

Ok, thanks for the input, the s13 is where I was leaning toward anyway, since they are cheaper and lighter. If anyone has experience in buying SR's, who is the best quality, most trustworthy place to purchase? And after I get it will I need to go ahead and plan on rebuilding it before I put it in?

All of my friends that have ordered SR's have ordered from srswap.com with the exception of 2 of them. 1 other ordered from jspecauto.com and the other ordered from flashoptions. The one from jspecauto was complete shit.... tons of missing parts and an ecu smashed to all hell. I guess that's what you get for ordering a "complete" motor for $1599. The one that came from flash options was decent.. Shipping took an ungodly amount of time though (6 months, came from malaysia). It had all of the parts except for the ignitor. It was a clip that my friend ordered and he got lucky on the front suspension. Flash options left 2 JIC FLT-A2's on the front. That made up for the missing ignitor. I believe he spent close to 3 grand for it. It was an S13 blacktop front clip. Everybody else that has ordered from srswap.com has had nothing but good things to say about them every time. All the parts are there and it great condition. Prices may be a little higher than others, but you get what you pay for.

As for rebuilding, it depends on what you want to do with it. If you just plan on running stock boost then no it doesn't need to be rebuilt at all. The motors that are shipped are usually in good condition. If you plan on running high boost sometime in the near future, then I'd suggest just saving your money and rebuilding while the motor is already out. It's possible to rebuild it with the motor in the engine bay, but I'm sure you can imagine how much of a bitch that would be... It's so much easier when the motor is sitting on an engine stand.
