Rear window glass rattling

Hello,
I have a 97 Rodeo without a wiper for the rear window. The glass started rattling sometime back. It doesn't happen all the time. The glass rattles sometimes when the car starts moving and then a few minutes later stops. The window seems to be locked down fine on the rear cargo door( it doesn't move or make any sound if I pull on it myself ).
Is this a problem with the glass window or the cargo door ? any solutions ?
thanks a bunch.
Jay

I have a 2001 Rodeo and the dealership replaced the "O-Ring" seal around the rear glass under warranty. It too squaked and rattled.

its no window defect dont try to push it off on them its your fault for having someone with no knowledge of window tinting to tint your windows the reason the window broke is because they cut into the black part around the outside of the window thats where the glass gets its durability from so that it wont break when flexing if someone cuts it while trimming the tint guess what? BROKEN WINDOW maybe not right away but it will happen

Yep, this really bites, but is real common on any frameless glass hatch. There's nothing to give the glass any rigidity so they are real touchy. Any major nics/scratches causes them to become unstable. It's best to leave'em alone- or try to get a factory tinted one. Oh yeah.. and always try to handle the hatch by the bottom center- as to not 'flex' it any. & dont slam it! :banghead:

Wrap some electrical tape or similar material on the latch striker.

Is the 'striker' the part on the glass or the part on the tailgate?

The striker is on the glass.

You might want to try the other side. Reputable tint shops that use quality window film stand by their work. If the glass cracks due to the tint, you should talk to the tint shop.
The good tint shops have insurance agreements with the window film manufacturers to cover cases like this. They will replace the glass and the tint job, and file a claim with the window film manufacturer.
But if it is a bad tint shop.. who didn't use film that isn't backed by a performance guarantee or didn't install film using the correct procedures, then you are SOL.
Maybe too late, but here is an article about choosing a good tint shop (http://www.tintcenter.com/articles/bt_shops.html). Good luck.
