What Is This Noise !!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 98 jetta gl 2.0 5 speed. no mods. Ok let me see if i can explain the problem, when I a driving on the highway going between 55+ There is a noise coming from what sounds like the front of the vehicle. It sounds like I am driving in a lower gear and it is really loud. I just replaces the clutch about 2 months ago. But the sound was there before that it just started one day. I know it's not the cv boots because i had to take them off to pull the tranny. so if anyone has any ideas about what it is or could be. please let me know I's driving me crazy

What about the wheel bearings? Jack & support one side at a time, put the vehicle in 2nd or 3rd gear and let the tire spin (don't spin it too fast as you can damage the differential) this way you can isolate each wheel as to where the noise is coming from.
