I tried to adjust my fuel trims today using my MAFT. I have one of the dataloggers that you can get off of E-bay. Everything looked good except my fuel trims were super-messed up. They were all reading 162. This is the first time I ever datalogged and i'm not certain of what my fuel trims should be but i know that is not right. Could it be reading in a different measurement that would make it right? I also noticed that I have what i believe to be spark blowout. Under hard acceleration the car starts to jerk a little bit. I know what fuel cut is because I have experienced that too and i know it is definitely not that. If it is spark blowout what can I do to stop it and what would be causing it? If there is somebody near western PA that knows how to tune cars really well please help me. like i said i have never done this before and if somebody would be willing to help me out on this I would be very greatful.

Sorry I know you've mentioned it before but I forgot. What turbos/injectors/supporting mods are you running? what plugs do you have and what are they gapped to?

If it feels like the car goes, then slows, then goes then slows, almost like a back and forth series-type of thing then it is probably blowout.

i have 13g's with a stock fuel system right now. I'm using an LS6/MAFT to tune. I believe i have NGK platinum spark plugs gapped to .04in but i'm not 100% positive. That's exactly how my car accelerates once the gas pedal is past about half way

Get NGK copper plugs and gap them to .28-.32 that will prevent blowout that the platinum and iridiums cause. The copper plugs are colder and gapping them closer will help them keep a strong spark going. If you don't have the money, at least gap your plugs alot closer than .4 that is most likely causing it.
As far as the fuel trims, let me do a bit of research, because I don't have any experience datalogging.

Are they reading 162%?

i'm not exactly sure. It doesn't have any labeling on what measurement they are using whether it's % or what.

OK, well first off, did you reset your ECU? Assuming you did, are you sure you don't have any vacuum leaks.
Those 2 precautions aside...

Here's a thread I just looked at:
http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread.php?t=209357&page=1&pp=10

I remember you saying your MAFT was zeroed out, except for idle was at 2, have you tried zeroing it out again, because if you're at 162% it sounds like you're running REALLY rich. Granted I don't think idle settings would affect your driving, but who knows, it may think you have different than stock injectors. I don't think you have an A/F controller right, so you only have the MAFT to tune? most use an AFC to fine tune.

If you are a member at 3si, I would post your datalogging there as well, all your results, because they have tons of experts that don't mind helping out.

I have indeed reset my ECU and the same things keep coming back up. I just replaced my turbos last weekend so i had disturbed all the vacuum lines removing the rear turbo. I will check to make sure that they are all connected properly but i was pretty careful in connecting everything. My IDC seems to only be around 3-5%. Does that mean anything that would point me to what is wrong? Should I check my return lines like it says in that post because I didn't replace them when I changed my turbos. If that doesn't work should I try to use Seafoam to see if i have a leaking injector.

IDC is 3-5% on injectors? at idle? It should be way way way higher if you are talking injectors at WOT.
I would lean towards tuning first, before jumping to conclusions with leaking injectors. I'm still looking...

Here's some more reading that I'm looking at now:

the 3-5% idc was at idle not at WOT. at WOT it's at about 95%.

Igovert500

So at WOT you injector IDC is ~95% and your fuel trim hits 162
What are you O2 trims looking like?
Are you watching knock?

Here's what I found:
fuel trims are what is going to help you make adjustments to the maft settings... 100% is optimal...

>100% means your running lean so make it one click richer
<100% means your running rich so click one more leaner.

I can't remember exactly what my O2 trim was at under WOT. I'm gonna havta try and e-mail the company I got the datalogger off of because I have no idea what it is measuring some of these readings in. I know the highest my O2 trim got to was 269 but I have no idea what that is supposed to mean. I shoulda just spent the extra money and got a better quality datalogger so i knew exactly what it was doing.

I figured this might help: its pocketlogger for dummies, I just found it:
http://hywell.org/plhelp/

and

http://www.vfaq.com/TMO/

However he's not talking about 3000gts in either of them, so I don't know if the values would be equal all the time, but at least it will help a bit with diagnostics.

I had put back in the stock MAS with a K&N FIPK to see what my readings would be. They improved quite a bit so I now know that I just need to continue working with the MAFT and not give up. I haven't had too much of a chance to do that much because of school and all.
