A friend of mine has an N/A 94 z28 thats runs high 11's. I dont even mind a respectable import, a few of my friends own them. For the people that have been around the race track, you could not wait to turn 16 and get out there in your favorite car weather it be a camaro, mustang, yugo it don't matter. and start whippin up on the rival cars. Lighten up a little and lets not scare everyone off.

P.S. I have smoked both cars of all kinds in my little BUICK :smokin:. All it takes is a litte bit of knowledge and a lot of practice.

well being a 16yr old and possibly having your first car i would say get something shitty as a first car and then once your alittle older and experienced move up to something faster..

So you hate chevy lol welcome my son... if you want a garranteed win no matter what get an 03 SC Cobra.. GM doesn't even make F-bodies anymore let alone one with 390whp stock.. so my advice to you is get a shitty beater car that will get you around for a yr or so and then go for the SC Cobra..

Wait, your 16 and own a 2004 Cobra? You saved up enough money by skipping lunchs to come with decent down payment and sill have $500+ monthly payment? I'm 18 and still in school I can say for a fact that there is no way you could buy that car unless your parents did it for you. I have a 95 T-Bird and the only reason I could afford one this nice was due to insurance off my old 92. My 92 was a true teenage car! I payed 300 dollars for it and rebuilt the motor. It didn't have paint on alot of places and where it did it was scratched, but it was mine and I had payed for it by working and done a lot of the work myself. After I put every penney I could into it (ram air hood, dual exhaust w/no muffler, and alot more) an Escort pulled out in front of me about 15 feet away while I was doing 40 mph. It totaled it which ticked me off, but I got almost enough from insurance to a 95 with a 4.6 in real nice shape.

Dude I have perfect credit and I work at Catapillar making 14.75 an hour as an intern. I could not get a loan on a cobra on my own, I would need a co-signer. Also on top of that, I could not afford the payments on one. So you mean to tell me that at 16 you

1. Had the credit to get an 04 cobra on your own

2. Had the money to put a nice down payment on one.

3. Have the money to pay a 535 a month car payment,

4. Have the money to pay for preimum fuel (where I live it is 2.09 a gallon now.) on a car that gets at best 22MPG

5. lets say you go through a tank a week @ 2.09 a gallon a tank on a cobra is roughly 16 gallons that is around 34 bucks.

6. an oil change a month with synthetic oil ( have to use or you will void the warrenty) [email protected] a quart is 25 bucks plus 7 bucks for a filter (estimate)

that is 703 a month assuming you only use one tank of fuel at 2.09 a gallon.

your still in school and to keep a 20hr a week job and make the MINIMUM of 703 is 8.78 an hour jobs and that is not including taxes and other things that are taken out of your paycheck. that leaves no spending money for anything and im sure you don't just sit at home all weekend and don't do anything to afford your car. 1. You have to have at least 3-4 years of a sustained credit history. That means you have had credit cards and some sort of loan or loans that you have successfully paid on time over the course of 3-4 years. 1-2 will not cut the mustard for a 20,0000 car let alone a 40,000.

2. Job history. For a 20,000 car most places want to see at least 2 years or more. And that is someone with good credit. Marginal credit or so so credit, more time is required. And they are going to need a cosigner no questions asked.

3. Bad credit or in your case Very little or no credit history (same catagory) You can forget it. I don't care if you've been on the job for 10 yrs. No financial institution in there right mind is going to give a 16 yr old kid a thirty to forty thousand dollar loan on a car. And I challange you to prove me wrong. If you don't pay who are they going to sue? Theyre gonna take a loss even if they repo the car. Your 16 they can't touch you.

That's a sharp looking Camaro buddy, about as nice of one that I've ever seen.

Bottom line is no 16 year-old is going to get alomst any car loan w/o a co-signer period. My friend makes $40K a year(hardware engineer) since he was 19. He has perfect credit and when he went to get his first car loan on a $12,000 dollar car he needed a co-signer.

Hopefully another year from now I will finish college and be pulling a 60K a year job. I am 22 have very good credit and I will need a co-signer for my first car loan!

So don't try to sell me at 16 with a part-time job your paying for an 04 Cobra.

Insurance clears? You cannot remove a car off of the lot without insurance, there was probably no misunderstanding with the insurance co. Ya thats hard to believe, 16 is very young to own a 2004 corba. I tired to buy a Mustang GT, a 2004, and I couldn't afford the insurance.

Monthly insurance cost for me was going to be $585 a month (This is Canadian)

Now I will admit I got rich parnets, but they dont buy us very much. I am out of school now and wanted a car ( i am 19)

So my dad agreed to co-sign for me if I could afford the monthly payments.
I make $2000 a month at a Uhaul/Carwash building (i am the manager)
I also fix computers and own a few vending machines.
So after all that I bring in about $2600ish a month.

So we picked up a 2003 RSX Type S.

Monthly payment. $385
Monthy Insurance payment. $391

$776 + gas. So were looking at about $1000 bucks a month.

So it is do-able, but his story still sounds far-fetched... 16 years old! gessh that too young to own a car with that much power. :)
