Are the Inline 4's in the Avenger the same as the DOHC 2.0l found in a base Eclipse 95-99? If so why dont all of you just get that engine and turbo charge it, hell they can take a pretty good amount of boost and plus it would be alot easier dont yah think.
i have both nuts!

yes it is the same 2.0 from the eclipse. Avengers never came with a 2.4. The V6 was a 2.5 though

The Engine in the base model Eclipse and the base model avenger are EXACTLY the same. The engine code is the 420A. It's a 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder Chrysler engine. You'll find that most of the parts from the eclipse and the avenger are interchangeable (for instance the entire door, wheels, brakes etc.)

There is also the 2.5 liter V6 which comes in the ES Models (I drive one). The 4 cylinder block is also swappable with the DOCH 2.0 Liter Dodge Neons from 95-99. The head won't swap though. For more info go to the Mitsu forums and search for 420A. There's lots of info on the 4 cylinder there.

an eclipse and avenger are the exact same car with different bodies... end of story. the engine is the same 2.0 dohc yes. and its actually better to get the I4 rather than the v6, it takes well to boost and it can have a manual tranny, the v6 cant have a manual tranny, theres no room for it.
