The "Service Engine Soon" light just came on our '97 Grand Caravan. I know from previous experience that means take it to the dealer pay big bucks to have them replace an EGR valve and push a reset button. Am I right in assuming that is the reason for this light coming on now? If so, has anybody found the reset button, before I go crawling under the dash?
THanks,
Ed

If it's nothing... with a Chrysler it will reset itself after 3 cycles of the key/crank.
Turn the key on and off and on and off and on without starting and read any codes it might have stored (older van flashing service engine soon light, newer vans digital odometer read out).
The light came on the other day in my company ride (dodge van) was going to take it into the shop tomorrow but now it's off again ?
I didn't notice when it came on but I was blasting down the highway and the engine kinda gave a buck at a 110km/h. And the tranny has been acting funny lately, might be on the way out. But like I said, company vehicle so no worries on my part ( thank God, I got enough with my own Chrysler product).
You can pay the 1Hr shop fee and have them hook it upto the computer to pull the codes, then fix the problem yourself.

I know auto zone will scan your van and tell you the code and why the service light came on. They don't charge to do it. Mine came on and it was the EGR valve. I went and bought one and changed it and went back to Auto Zone and they cleared the memory. The EGR valve has a little orifice in it and it got pluged. A little pin opened the it now I hav a spare EGR valve..... I wish I took it off first before I went and bought one..... I would think most parts place would ck your computer to tell you whats up. Auto Zone sold me an EGR valve... good luck
