garage door opener

I finally fixed the garage door opener and now I'm trying to program the buttons in the car.
I can get the red light to flash, but it doesn't seem to get programmed - I'm following the owners manual but no luck so far.
Anybody else have problems with this?
Any clues where I'm going wrong?

TIA

Mine works ok - I don't have a garage door but it starts my Lady's Volvo with remote start... LMAO

what year do you have. The early models don't have the ability to learn code hopping remotes.

The car is a 98 - I don't know how old the door opener is - probably 6 or 7 years older than that. How do I find out if the opener is a "code hopper"?

In that case I doubt that there is a compatability problem. Are you following the instructions in the owners manual?
Sorry I can't help you more.

I don't know how that could work unless the RS is a very low quality unit or something's wrong with it. Some of the cheaper RS units have a very sloppy processor and will accept just about anything to get it to start.

Also, with my remote starters, I CAN shut off the code hopping feature. In addition, there are some garage door openers that ARE code hoppers.

I finally figured it out - the procedures in Canada are different to how you do it in the US - FCC rules I guess. Canadians have a separate paragraph in the manual for the extra instructions and I missed it first time round. Works great now.

I had the same problem until I followed the instruction in the manual for Canada. Wierd but it worked.
