My drivers side front window went down, now it wont come back up! All the other windows work fine. When I push the button to make the window go up nothing happens, but when I push the down button I hear a click under the dash. Any help to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!!

There are a few areas to look.Tuarus' ahve problems with the master control switch on the drivers side. Water gets into the switch from windows being open in the rain or in drive thru, fast food stops. The contacts inside this switch get corroded. Also in the jam of the door, wiring in this area breaks from the door being opened and closed. The other is the wiper motor itself. If there is power through the switch to the motor wiring you need a new motor. "Why only this window", it gets the most use. I am a Ford Technician and I see this all the time. I own a 1998 Taurus SE 3.0 ltr as well. :banghead:

I have same problem. only exception is the interior light will stay on also. may be two different problems. has only do it three times and it seemed to reset itself. The water reasoning sounds probabable as I do see water from time to time when it rains coming in w/window open. have replced relay w/no help.

In your door latch is a door ajar switch. Most of the time they need lubrication. Spray the latch with spray grease or or even WD40. It will free up the door ajar switch. If this switch is open it will leave your lights on. Do you want to diag and repair the window problem yourself?

Hey Irish, is there any way to get the window up if your motor is bad??

You have to remove the door panel, but somtimes tapping the window motor with a hammer and trying to put it up will work. Other than that not really, unless you remove the motor and push the window up by hand. The only problem with this is the motor keeps the window up. :sunglasse

If you need to or want to diag it yourself let me know. I can walk you through it. I have access to all the wiring diagrams and pinpoint tests from Ford. :evillol:

Well my window is still down, havent had a day off work to work on it. I'm goin to try to tap it with a hammer to see if that works, and if it doesnt guess I will have to buy a used motor. I just want the damn window up!

I had a similiar electric problem where the door locks would be going up and down constantly. This would happen while driving or when the car is parked and the iginition is turned off.
Any ideas guys?

You are recieving an intermittant short to ground somewhere in the door lock circuit. It may be in the switches, wiring, or the GEM module. :sunglasse

Hi there,
Well, I have the same window problem with my 2000 Taurus. Driver side window went down and wont come back up.
I'm applying the Irish30 diagnostic technique but I'm running into something that was not previously mentioned. I have checked the continuity on the switches and everything checked out fine. I've now looked at the voltage levels on the harness and although the passenger side records about 12V the driver side does not record any voltage levels. I've replaced the large relay and still no voltage level, anyone have any thoughts to what it might be?
Thanks
