I have a 1995 2 cyinder neon. When I got the car, it started with the clutch all the way down. Then it started with the clutch all the way down after a few tries, and now it only starts with light pressure on the clutch. Is there a way to reset the clutch? Does anyone know what's going on? When you try to start the car with the clutch all the way down, there's some weird fan exhaust sound until you take your foot off the clutch. Thanx.

Ummm.. well, in actuality, they did have the "sport" model in 1995, which had the dual cam "Y" engine, and they also had this little thing called the Neon ACR, which had a stiffer suspension (extra stabilizers), four wheel discs WITHOUT ABS, stronger 5th gear (lousy mileage), deleted radio and NO top speed limiter...

Oh, and as regards the original post, there is a safety switch on the clutch. One thing to try when you have starter problems is to disconnesct the switch and short out the connector with a small piece of wire.
I just went through a starter nightmare of my own on my '95 ACR, and this was one thing I checked. I also tried replacing the starter.. no joy. My solution was to replace the ground lug at the starter motor, and to clean the shit off the positive lugs (both of them) also at the starter. I used 320 grit sandpaper and went at those buggers until I could see metal again... knock on wood, my problem seems fixed.
