Definitely a Daihatsu Copen. It was a conceptcar but I believe they're willing to produce it... Not quiet sure if that's a positive or negative thing...

:eek7: :screwy: Nothing in common with a 356!!!!! Just a micro car, something like a Smart roadster (for the size) crossed with a Peugeot 206 CC (for the SLK-type roof) and Audi TT (overall shape and wheels). Will never enter in my dreams! :disappoin But 356 yes!!!!! :naughty::naughty::naughty:

i think the shape looks 356-ish, not that this car is the brother to the 356.

It looks like a Dathatsu. It looks like a combination of a mini cooper and a smart car.

it's a Daihatsu Copen, and they are in normal production in Japan.
they had one at the Toronto Autoshow in February as an example of the world's low emission vehicles. they also brought an Audi A2, a Smart car, and a VW Lupo, all of which we don't get over here.

pppphhhbbbtt........By far the gayest car on the road, 660cc's of pure adrediline  Mind you, I suppose cars like the 206CC and MX5 are predomiantly poser cars as well, but at least most people can fit in them and they have fucion to match the form....Not cheap either, I'd drive a Skoda Fabia 1.4 8v Auto, before I got behind the wheel of one of those........

Some 50 cals on the sides would make it look pretty cool.
But then, thats my answer to everything.

There was one at Sagata last weekend with 17 inch wheels (they barely fit) and a big ass GT wing on it. He had all the minor mods completed and it looked pretty sweet.
I don't think it is quite up to the other killer K-Car (that is the name for 660cc or less vehicles here in Japan; it stands for "karuii jidoshya" or light vehicle) which is the suzuki Alto Works. I have seen a Works pushing 100 hp at the wheels, which is pretty impressive considering that all K vehicles are limited to 64ps stock.
As it nears summer, expect to see a lot of these little cars in Option and other Japanese mags as they are affoardable and easy to find parking for.

The Copen they are an interesting car, I've driven about 10 of them.
One of the only cars I can rest my arm on the passenger windowsill, only other car i've driven like this is the Mercedes Smart Car.
They may be gutless as hell, but they certainly make it feel like you're going fast. Feels more like a Gokart and the little thing revs so high its scary, although you can't hear the turbo.
But really I don't get Toyota New Zealand for bringing these in New, they'll fit in the potholes on our crummy roads.

But why? I could get double the car without looking queer, if I bought a FIAT Punto Abarth, did you know they are both NZ$29,995???

The Punto Abarth doesnt deserve to wear the Abarth badge

Why not? It as a snail, lively FWD handling and relatively attractive styling.....I think it does....It'll never be a 131 Abarth, but whatever FIAT could possibly replace the 131 Abarth....
