Automatic tranny shifting problems

Hello,
I have a 2000 rodeo with about 74K on it. Recently the automatic tranny has been acting up. It seems to be slipping into gear with a slight delay. As I back out of my garage it will take a second or two before I feel it actually shift into reverse. Also does this from rev into Drive.

Next when accelerating from a stop, as it shifts from 1st into 2nd gear the enire truck shakes violently and it slams into gear. This only happens when going from 1st to 2nd all other gears shift perfectly.

I have read that this may be an alternator problem but why does it only do it from 1st to 2nd. I tried testing the alternater by disconnecting the neg cable on battery but it continued to run perfectly. It also hasnt have a tranny flush in a long time, could this be it??

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you have not had it flushed or better yet if you have not had the tranny filter replaced, I would have the tranny pan dropped and have the tranny filter replaced.

You could be low on fluid.

If you are the orginal owner, and there is something wrong with your tranny you should be covered under your warranty.

I just had a same problem with mine though not as bad, I just had my 4th gear servo replaced, and had great help from ryan. All I did was disconnect my battery and reset my computers and the problem seems to have gone away, at least it hasn't happened again yet. Have you had any work done on it lately, have you run it extremly low on fuel. first thing though like ryan said check the fluid level, maybe evan drain some to check the quality.

I have let it get pretty low on fuel lately...but how would this affect shifting? No work done lately either, other than routine oil change. Is my best bet to get a fluid change and possibly reset my computer? If so how do I reset it??
Thanks for your help guys

Yes your bet bet is to get a fluid change. to reset your computers just disconnect the battery and hold the terminals together for 15sec. and reconnect. As far as the fuel level dropping(mine was so low my check engine light came on) I think it messed up my fuel level sending unit and from what I can tell it may be telling my computer that I'm out of fuel and disengaging my tranny, this problum occured again today so I'm going to check my fuel level sending unit before I drop more money to find out whats wrong. I'll keep you updated. Good luck
