Hi there,

I need to remove the radiator from my 98 Malibu. I ordered a Chilton manual on Ebay 3 weeks ago and still have not received it. I think I got burned.

Can someone please please post step by step instructions on how to remove the radiator. I need to get it out to replace my radiator drain plug. I damaged it while trying to drain the coolant.

Thanks.

Al

I can post the process, however its quite lengthy and really benefits from the accompanying pictures. I suggest that you go to Advance Auto Parts or Autozone and grab the Hayes manual for the car - they run about $15 and you can walk out the door with it the same day. If you want me to go ahead and post the entire process anyways, just say so and I'll type it up. I'll check back again tonight incase you are dead in the water until this repair is complete.

Hi Burly,

I just finished up in the garage right now. Turns out the radiator drain plug does not screw out. It just needs to be turned slightly and then pulled. The plug remains in the radiator while it drains. Push the plug in to stop it from draining. Thankfully there was still enough material on the plug for me to do that. Had I damaged it any further I most certainly would have had to remove the radiator.

I dont need you to type the instructions for me. Thank you for offering. I am going to take your advice and pick up the repair manual ASAP. Im sure I will need it soon enough.

Take care.

Good to hear that you were able to repair it. BTW, how are those Raybestos brake pads working for you? I'm replacing my pads this week and am seriously considering that particular pad. Either that one of the Bendix ones - both are ceramic. Lemme know what you think.
