Could be a noisy lifter, depends on how old your accord is. Mine and my dad's both do it and ours are 5th gen. I've heard of a few techniques to fix it, but haven't tried any because most required accessing the cam.

Sure it's not a bad drive axle? I just replaced both of mine. If it is the sound will gradually get louder and louder. If you can catch a bad CV boot in time then you should be able to replace just boot which is a heck of a lot cheaper than replacing the whole axle. Take a look under your car right next to the driver side wheel and check if the black rubber boot is ripped. You might notice alot of grease on the inner wheelwell too.

A drive axle might cost you about $128 bucks if you do it yourself, and then you get the core charge back (about 50 bucks) when you bring the old one back to the parts store. That is if you do it yourself, which isn't too bad. It's about 1 1/2 to 2 hours a side.

Of course it could be noisy lifters too. My 96 Accord has 156,000 on it, still looks mint, drives mint, runs mint, except you can hear the little patter of lifters. But it's completely normal for a car with anything over 100,000 on it.

(If it is the the axle then as it gets worse and worse, you may start hearing moans under heavier accelerations, or when going up hills. You will also start hearing more ticking when taking corners or turning in certain directions)

could be a CV or drive axle......etc, I also used to have a ticking sound from my exhaust when it was brand new...from metal expansion, that is another possibility. It all depends on the loudness and consistancy of it actually.

I suffer from metal expansion also, but I don't know how to fix it =( Kind of annoying.
