Engine Cleaning??

Hello,
Im new here guys and I'm sure you have heard this same question several times, but I have noone else to ask. Anyway, I just had my engine cleaned with a pressure washer which is fine, but the guy who cleaned it for me didnt let the car cool down very much before he sprayed it off. This didnt damage the engine at all did it? This just happened earlier today and as of yet I see no problems, but I needed to ask to ease my mind. Anyway, you guys think the engine should be fine right?

This shouldn't affect you vehicle. The rather small amount of water that it takes to clean the engine with a pressure washer does not have enough thermal mass in comparision to your engine block and components to cool anything down too fast and warp anything - like your heads. The only real issue with power washing is to be careful around electrical components like the ABS module and the ECU.

Thanks for the reply. I asked the guy if he thought we should cover anything under the hood before hand, but he said that most everything was sealed pretty good so there was no real need to do so. I knew the engine was to hot as soon as he started spraying...........steam was comming off the engine. Hopefully this didnt do any harm. :)

steam coming off is normal, as long as it wasnt sizziling :wink:

as long as the car is running like normal, your a-o-k

ussally i just cover the intake,fuse box with some platic bag,, spray some simple green on it and hose down with no problem

dont forget the distributor, you may have got lucky the first couple times but you cant risk flooding it, its a pain in the butt to fix something like that..
