I just got the muffler. Still sounds good.

I think Just the muffler will do fine for your 3.8.. You could also look at highflow cats..

for a 3.8 just the muffler is fine. Really do not NEED the 3" I pipe that comes with the whole catback. Won't hurt anything to get the whole setup, but is cheaper to just get a muffler.

what is the size for the stock piping? Could always go for custom piping into those mufflers. then you get the benefit of the larger diameter without the cost.

if it was me and i had the money id go ahead and invest in the hole system, if you plan on having the car for a long time its a good thing to do, and you could go with a like 2 1/4 diam. pipe, you dont reallyneed the 3

3" exhaust is too much for a n/a V6.. It'l rob you of much needed torque...

2 7/8 sounds big for a V6 from factory?? BUt ive never looked under it.. Stock pipe diameter is perfect.. So if your not changing the diameter, why change the pipe? If its all still in good shape, Ide just get a muffler

my 2000 camaro ss has the 40 series, sounds
damn good, has a loud rumble to it. i used to
have a 91 rs with a 3.1. i put the 80 series on,
sounded like a V8 at idle and at low cruise speeds.
but under heavy excelleration. awwww. it was
like a swarm of pissed off bee's. but the 3.8 is
more beefed up and will sound a lot tuffer.

yeah i dont think its fair to compare the ss to the smaller engines. ive heard em with american exhaust systems but when you really open it up its hard to imitate 8 cylinders. id still go for the mufflers :-D

It doesnt matter what you get.. a V6 is gonna sound like a V6.. Specially in the higher RPM range.. But a good performance muffler helps out a lot at idle and lower RPM's.. at the cost of a smooth high rpm..
