OK, I give.. Why am I having trouble now trying to get in first gear? No grinding but have to push hard or move shifter around before it engages. Any help or suggestion? Thanks!

my car did t hat when i first got it, i have no clue whats causing the problem, but you just have to let go of the clutch and push it back in then shift

I had that a few times this year when the weather changed drastically, 2 things that help: one do a drivetrain oil change, it really helps for smoother shifting and is pretty damn easy. 2nd: when you first start the car, give it a few seconds and then shift around, with the clutch in, if it wont go into 1st, shift into 5th or 6th, then work your way down. It does in easier for some reason after it has been in a few gears, just keep the clutch in so you don't stall. It's a pain, but it seemed to only happen this spring after cold weather or cold nights.

I had a similar problem but mine was in reverse. What I did was shift it into first gear first, then to reverse. Somewhat of a hassle but not too big of a deal.

Yeah it happens for first and reverse for me, it's whatever gear I need to put it in to first move

Well that depends on his phrase, but generally, a common problem is for the synchros in the transmission to get worn and grind so you can't shift into that gear. I've heard of a guy who drag races but can't get his car into 4th, so he races all the way through 3rd and then lets off at redline.
