Got a question for the group may seem weird and odd but when you give a vehicle gas in park and when it revs up why at around 4000 RPM's or so the engine cuts out and won't go up any higher no matter how far you press on the gas

its probably this really cool invention called a rev liiter so people like you dont over rev the engine and blow it.

So you could keep on revving it as long as that Rev Limiter is doing its thing and keeping the engine going like it is

In theory, yes you could. In practice however, I don't think that would work too well, especially if your engine has some mileage racked up. Sometimes, GM puts the rev limiters past the redline of an engine. My old 89 Pontiac 6000's limiter kicked in at 6200 rpm's, redline was 6000. I wouldn't think they would be all like that, if the limiter cuts the engine off 1000 rpm or so below the redline, the engine would most likely survive a while.
