Fiero Automatic trans.

I have an 85 Fiero SE V6 Auto. I was wondering if there is a way to determine the correct shifting for the trans. I had my trans rebuilt but it seems like it over revs on the highway. Doing 70mph it revs at 3k rpm. I seem to think that the tranny should have a cruising spped on the tranny, but I am not use to driving automatics. Thanks for any repys

Hmmmm, I will have to check with my father on that one as he has had more experience with automatic Fieros than I have.
If I remember right though on a few I have they do seem to rev higher on the highway than a standard trannie.
I will ask him though and post what he says later.

If it's an '85, then it should be the same 3-speed auto as my 86 GT. I think I get about 2500 at 55mph, and about 3000 at 70mph.

Sometimes I really wish I had just one more gear for highway cruising...

I found out that the stop light switch works the Lock Up control relay. There is a purple wire on the switch that gives the signal to LockUp. Car runs good now and cruises at 70/80 mph @ 3100 RPM

Yup, that was one of the first things that my dad said when I threw that by him was to have you check that relay. Good find!

Drove my 5 speed 4 cyl today - 65 mph @ 2500 rpm :nutkick:

Anyway, congrats on the fix!!
