I am soon going to buy a Mustang but I am kind of indecisive as to which year and trim I want. I have it narrowed down to a 96-98 Cobra, or a 99 Cobra. The only problem I see with the 99 is supposedly Ford fibbed on the horsepower ratings. According to some statements I have read the 99 Cobra had less than 300 actual hp. Is this correct? Is the 99 slower than the 96-98 Cobras? Also, if anyone disagrees with my choices please let me know what you think.

Dude 03-04 cobra. No but on the real the 96 cobra is one of the best cobras ever built. Or u could always go with the incredibly awesome Camaro.

The 99 Cobra's lower than advertised HP was due to a post design fuck-up. This is fixed for free by Ford as a recall if it isn't already done to the 99 you might buy. The biggest difference between the 99 Cobra and the 96-98 would be two things. #1 Obviously the body #2 the 99 has a IRS. So the decision would be which body do you like best and would you rather have an IRS or a Live axle(considering money doesn't matter).

Alright. Yeah, I would like to have a Camaro but they seem to be just too expensive. BTW, how could they fix it? Was the intake manifold way off specs or something?

Why fix it when Ford will do it for free?
