sub/amp switch

OK here is the scoop, my friend has a 1994 civic and wants it to make the boom boom sounds with a sub or two in the trunk. But he does not want it to do that all the time.

My idea is installing an amp for the subs and the subs in the trunk. Running all the wires but wiht the remote wire i plan on connecting it from the amp to the power ant. on the head unit, but in between the head unit and amp i want to install a togle switch for that line.
The switch will turn the amp on when the switch is flipped and the stereo is on right?
Is this an effective way to turn on the amp and subs without messing things up?
This will allow you to listen to the radio as it is now but when you flip the switch it will add in the extra bass right?

Any feedback would be much aprecheated.

That is basically what I did with my subs. I am using an ignition switched fuse location (sunroof to be exact - since I dont have one) for my remote turn on lead. I just installed a switch inline with that remote turn-on wire. When the switch is on - the amp gets the turn on signal and turns on. When its off, off goes the remote turn on lead - off goes the amp and away goes the bass.

Thanks, I was almost positive that it would work, I just wanted to know if anyone had done it before and if it had worked the way i thought it would or not.
