Hey guys i have a crx hf and i just raced a 4cyl. 87 toyota pick up and lost badly :banghead: and i race a 94 civic ex coupe and that car hase v-tec ya i lost but we raced again and i beat him buy a car length :iceslolan but i wanted to no about the HF motor and SI motor. can i put a SI head on the HF motor i think you can or a 1.6 EX head on the HF motor and also i was just thinking if the SI motor and the HF motor is the same thing but I know the HF motor is 8 valve and the SI motor is 16 valve other than that.

Depends on the year of the hf. Some years have groved pistons as apposed to flat toped ones.
Ok and im going to pull the bullshit card on you beating the 94 ex. and beating it by a car length. Despite the fact that your way lighter, he has 2 times more power(62*2=124) Wait even more than 2 times.
I personally, think swapping cyl. heads its easier to just swap the engine. Thats my .02

Yeah I doubt that your HF motor could beat a 94 ex coupe also, but who knows. If you could find a d16a6 for cheap I'd just go ahead and swap that in (came in the 88-91 crx/hatch si's and 90-91 sedan ex) and that would be a great improvement from 62hp, up to 108hp.

Yeah go to the junkyard, im SURE you can find something better than what you have, even if its out of like a 92-95 civic cx or even a5th gen dx engine would be a GREAT upgrade compared to what you have.
Just give some yards a call and ask around for prices

oops  i mean he thinks hiting the rev limiter makes you go faster sorry about that.

hmmm usually hitting the rev limiter causes a decrease in power. those engines rarely make power over 6-7g.

yea theres no way you can just swap heads the hf is 8 valve pistons and you'll crash the valves the first time you try to turn it over you could swap piston and go to a high comp piston and then swap out a sohc v-tec and rip people all day and show them the block stamp just my opinion though

The engine out of my '89 HF only had grooves for 2 valves, I would think the other two on the head would hit.

krazyimports, can you use periods and/or punctuation next time so we can read what you're saying a little bit easier?

Hey rosshatch89, so i could change my pistons, and put what type of head on the Hf motor, may be the SI or the EX head?

hmm, yes but why. All that work would be easier by just swapping a "junkyard special" engine What year is you hf. I believe that 90-91 are flat topped pistons and 88-89 are groved for 2 valves

My HF is a 91. Why i will just swap heads is beacause i allready have a EX v-tec head laying around, and the crank, and pistons. I have the hole d16 motor but the hole bottom end of the engine is no good.
