I haven't updated my profile yet so all my work from early 03 are the only things up there at the moment...which unfortunately dont have any cars...but I am a transportational design student i just barely finished my pre-req. classes to start trans design so within a few weeks or so i should have some really kick ass cars for you guys to check out.
here's a quick Bio of me...
Name: Vince Mendoza
Age: 21
School: Pasadena City College in the transfer process for Pasadena Art Center [Prestigious and one of the top design schools]
I've been into cars since I was 8 my father and his brothers back in the Philippines [mid 80s] had a slew of cars from Mini's to Camaros, 2 wheels to 6 wheels [big transport trucks] and have helped and been interested since...we moved to the USA in 87 my father had to give up on his hobby for cars and planes for awhile until he could get the family back on its feet but it didn't stop him from talking about cars with me, my brothers and his brothers. In early 95 the new Turbo Eclipses came out and my brother had purchased one, I was at this time about 14/15 and my brother started an Import car club in Southern California that would end up being one of the PIONEERS of import racing in the USA along side with Kosoku, Cyber, Red Line and others R-Version [my bro's team] is still alive and kicking although they aren't as active but they are still involved with the import scene they've moved up starting big companies and throwing car shows...as i grew up around these guys they taught me everything they knew because they had the mind set of making me the 2nd generation of R-Version at an early age of 16 i already learned how to shave and mold body panels and antennas the old school hot rod way of nearly bondo-less body shaving. I went on working for a body shop during my high school years and learned how to make bodykits and restore cars...from there on my boss had lit a fire in me that soon fed my love for custom rides. I could've stayed at the shop and get big with my custom bodykits but my boss encouraged me to go to school to learn how to design cars and really learn the in's and outs of design and what caught my ear the most was when he said "wouldn't you rather like to design and build a whole car?" at that time i never knew what a concept car was and who designed and built them but what kept running through my mind was damn the things i can do building bodykits, fender flares and hoods is nothing compared to what i can possibly do with a whole car!
So, here I am about to transfer to one of the best design schools around and eager to learn more. I know Art Center is one of the toughest schools around actually my teachers at Pasadena City College are teachers from the Art Center as well and they practically set up the Pre-Req. classes up so its like the classes in Art Center so we get the heavy critique from our teachers and straight up bashing on our work comments.
haha ok sorry for the long post here's the link

uhm nah well he might be a part time teacher to tell you the truth i only know of a few teachers there...the ones i've already taken classes with.
most of the known teachers or better teachers usually just work part time and Thom Taylor is pretty famous for his hot rod work so if he does work there then he is working part time for sure...im definate that they are busy doing side jobs with other manufacturing companies and personal projects.

I thought I read in the back of his book that he taught at Pasedena somethin-er-ruther or maybe it was something elese. In any case sounds like you have it all planned out. Good luck. Stick with it. try to make it your number 1 priority.
You got any car drawings?

Yeah it is a tough road, car design is a competative field, and I too would also like to design cars, motocycles, planes, basically anything on wheels (maybe without wheels one day).
The discouraging thing about car design, besides from the competition (which is not necessarily a bad thing) is to my knowledge most car deigners only design cars, and I want to do much more than design cars.
My advice to anyone going into car design or design in general (not that I am qualified to give it) would be practice all forms of rendering, sketching, developing ideas and try to always challenge yourself to create new ideas and approaches. Having a unique style is always a plus too. Good luck homie, you have some good stuff on that there site.

thanks, i'll try and take pictures of my paintings and such so you get a sense that i have more than 1 technique and experienced with plenty of medias...
"...to my knowledge most car deigners only design cars, and I want to do much more than design cars..."
I as well would like to do more than just cars...if you actually look at the two teachers i posted they have done alot more than just design cars...anyway also to go along with your quote I plan to go along the lines of CHIC FOOSE who not only designs but builds his own cars from scratch. Also the good thing about being a Trans designer is that it runs along the lines of product design as well...actually...come to think of it one of my teachers actually said once that just about all Trans Designers have atleast worked once for a product design company and vice versa for product designers.
