9005 low beam conversion

wondering if anyone do a 9005 bulb conversion for their low beams.

it's 65w compared to the 55w regular, it's a little higher, so will it be safe for the wiring?

any pics of night time, before/after?

I have done this on my Accord. But using my knowledge of electronics and circuits, it is kind of hard to tell. It should be rated at 65W instead of being rated at 55W. Since 1 Watt = 1 Joule/second, that means it can handle 65 Joules/second instead of only 55 Joules/second. That's different than having a power consumption of 65W instead of 55W. Which would imply it consumes more joules per second. If you're really worried about it, you could probably find that out by finding the resistance of the bulb and the voltage applied to the wire. Then it is just voltage squared over resistance. I would assume it should be around 2.2 ohms but don't quote me on that.

Either way, I have done it without any problems and know a few other people who have done it also. Just to be safe, don't leave your headlights on without the engine running.

did you notice brighter lights?

Oh... hell... yes... maybe even too bright. The reflections from signs and shit almost hurt and it gets kind of annoying because with my high beams on, there is a spot of light in front of my car that might as well be daylight it is so damn bright. Numerous animals have survived encounters with them however, because you will see the twinkle of their eyes for almost a mile away on a straight road.

I initially was going to use that website to do the conversion (it was either that one, or a BMW one that had it) but I ended up just taking my needle-nose pliers and braking half of the notch off =P This is definitely necessary. My stupid ass friend tried to tell me it wasn't and he just shoved it in there, so it was barely sitting in the housing. I went to go fix it and the bulb broke off... forcing me to go buy a new set.

(Edit: It is almost bright enough to just use them and never turn on your high beams. But, if you're hauling ass down a straight stretch at midnight and want to make sure nothing jumps out in front of you and forces you off the road unexpectantly, then you can always just hit the high beams. I've only had other people flash their high beams at me a few times, and they regretted doing so.)

okay jajimo, i just did a search for instructions how to red out tail lights for another A/F forum member and came across topendmotorsports.com or accordracing.com and saw:

Fucking sweet! I was thinking about doing a DIY on the red-out, but it's pretty simple =P You ever find what you're looking for? I actually read up on doing in from a DelSol webpage before I did mine, I've just lost the link now!

Update: I blew out both bulbs =( I have a feeling it is because they're APC and cheap as hell, so if you do the conversion, go with some Silvania's or PIAAs.

Haven't done the conversion yet. Planning on getting upgrade headlight harness that connect to battery first. If the brightness is improved, I just may skip the 9005 conversion.

Hey guys, I installed 80w low beams ( http://www.globalpremier.com/fxbulbs.html ) in July and I go to college driving at night coming back only 3 times a week for around 30 minutes each. When winter comes it will be 5 times a week.

18 vs standard 14 gauge right?
Would it also prevent a meltdown if I did a 9005-9006 conversion and used 100w bulbs in the low beam?
I'm also thinking getting 100w yellow bulbs for snow and fog ( yellow bulbs (http://classicgarage.com/accessories-replacement-headlamp-bulbs-yellow-gold.html) ).
Any suggestions appreciated.

That kit says two lamps meaning one kit enough for whole car (4 bulbs) right?
