I have a 99suburban and the keyless entry has never honked the horn when I lock it. Is it supposed to? How do you program this feature?
I am half deaf and can't hear the click when the doors lock. Thanks for any info.

Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious but, the first time the lock button on your keyless activates the locks the horn does not honk. If you want it to honk you have to activate the locks a second time for the horn to honk. At least that is the way it works on my 98 Sub and I assume thats how it is supposed to work...... Be nice if my keyless was more consistant in working but thats a whole other discussion.....

my horn works. The second, third etc attempts only click the locks that are already locked. The horn blows on the second push of the button to assure you that the door is locked.

I believe that's the only way the OEM units can be set up. I know many of the aftermarket keyless entries can be changed to honk each time you press the button.

never mind.... found them on the next page by GMMERLIN
here is what he posted just to repeat:
When reprogramming the remote control door lock reciever, All transmitters must be programmed at this time in order for the transmitters to operate the vehicle. Transmitters not programed at this time will not work and the procedure will have to be redone with all the transmitters.
Ground pin 4 to pin 8 of the data link connector (DLC). The receiver will respond by locking and unlocking the doors, and activating the liftgate window release (if equipped) within 2 seconds.
Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously on the first transmitter to be programmed until the locks cycle (approximately 10 seconds).
Repeat step 2 for up to four total transmitters to be programmed (if available). The receiver will respond by locking and unlocking the doors and activating the liftgate window release (if equipped) within 2 seconds.
Remove the ground applied to the DLC.
Lock and unlock the doors in order to verify the transmitter operation.
Activate the rear window release in order to verify the transmitter operation.

To rockett99 here is an interesting note I just read. Haven't tested it on mine yet but it pertains to you. In regards to programming the
Remote (FOB) ....................

If they key is in the ON position during the programming procedure, the horn chirp will be disabled, if the key is in the OFF position, the horn chirp will be enabled. The horn will chirp when the lock button is pressed two times.
