Which one is a better investment?

Father of a friend of mine, abround his early fifties, was planning to buy a 1991 Ferrari F40 for $306,000. The car is old, but the fact that it's a collector's item makes it ever expensive. However, he has supposedly seen the new Aston Martin DB9 in the New York Intl. Auto Show 2004, a car which is both a lot newer, looks a lot more refined and a lot cheaper(EVEN THOUGH IT'S STILL NOT CHEAP).
On the other hand, Ferrari is a lot more powerful and I'm sure it's more fun to drive even though I'm sure one can still get a big thrill from the DB9.
Point of the matter is, I told him to order his DB9 without wasting time. Another issue is the fact that if you order an Aston, you will have to wait for a year or even more until a truck delivers your car directly to your door. If he buys the Ferrari he will not wait, he can drive it around tomorrow. So I'm in a bit of a dilemma myself...What do you guys think?

I could not come up with an answer right away, but if I were him, what I would do is to order the Aston and face the waiting time,it might feel like forever but it's definitely worth it...

Although the F40 is in a league of its own as far as Ferrari's are concerned, The Aston would be an investment for the future. You have to consider image heare too, some one who buys as F40 may be seen to be hitting a mid life crisis in a very big way. Whereas an aston would be some one who is ageing gracefuly, and prefers the finer things in life, but who still likes to let his hair down every so often. It would have to be the DB9 for me.

F40 is a collectors item and still seen as a modern supercar. It still can murder most cars on the road. The DB9 will never be a collectors item. May'be in the year 2034.
