Need Advice on Alternator

Hey.. just got my car back on the road.. its been sitting for 6 months, only driven once or twice a month.

anyways.. the alternator was brand new before i took the car off the road. it has 100kms on it at the max. Today, while starting the car, downshifting.... whatever, when the engine accelerates(from low rpm), the alternator squeals like a pig.. kind of embarrasing with stop and go driving. i'm guessing the alternator is partially siezed up...

any ideas of how to get it free again?? would i be stupid to spray lubricant on it??

thanks for the help

I had that issue with mine just a few weeks ago. The bottom bolt kicked out on its own (How that happened I'll never know, things a biatch to get off).

yeah u were right.. thanx

about the bottom bolt.. if ya take the wheel off, and push the mudgard to the side, you can get a socket on it.. a lot easier than reaching a wrench down in there..

Its not getting the wrench in there I have the issue with, its that the bolt seemed to big for the hole, and I had to always hammer the thing out. :P

You can try what I did after I took mine out. I cleaned the bolt with a bench grinder equipped with a wire brush head and greased it up before I put it back in. (I just realized my post sounds like an S and M porn.....) GL

yea wierd as it may sound my alternator was a new one and it was making a grinding noise but the belt was tight so i wasnt worried well i found out later the bottom bolt had fallin out somehow and the thing was in a constant bind but yea if your belts tight and its still squealing then just spray it down with wd-40 or whatever that should stop it and altenators arent very sensitive so you cant hurt it

speaking of that... i did a little trip aprox. 200 miles or so. the top bolt Broke off inside of the alt. all i had was zip ties a few diff. standard wrenches and a file..... i tried the zip ties.... it didn't work...for long... so while broke down on the side of the highway guess what i find. a bolt that fitted perfectly into the hole but it the broken bolt was still in there... i used the file to help it out... then used the file to grind down the standard wrench to fit the bolt and i put it in.... i've never changed that bolt since......

gay story but never say you're stuck and pray to god some other piece breaks down cause a bolt from their car fell off.

Zip ties are a MUST HAVE in anyones glove box! lol
I was traveling down the highway once, and one of the rubber loops that holds the exhaust up broke. Had the muffler replaced not but a few weeks before that and they guy said the mounts where NOT covered under warranty. Zip ties held that bad boy up for about 10,000 miles before I actually had it replaced :D
