Ok...Im still trying to calm down from this whole experience...
So I'm walking to the convinience store during my lunch break and Im waiting for the lights to go green so I can cross, as I'm waiting this nice little black 2nd gen Mitsubishi stops at the red light, had a loud exhaust and looked mint. So I'm staring at his car when 5 seconds later a 3rd gen Mitsubishi pulls next to him, it was a candy orange type of colour, HUGE wing and it did not seem stock at all. The drivers look over to eachother and start revving, and I'm standing there with the biggest flippin smile on my face. So light turns green and these 2 gun it like MAAAAAD. You can hear the engine scream and the turbo's (yes they both sounded turboed) spooling like crazy.
Unfortunantly I didnt get to see the end of the race but they seemed to be quite even from where they went outta sight. These 2 cars were most likely out of towners since I have never seen them before....man it was a rush just watching them

I think it's great when I'm driving and I'll see two basically bone stock cars that are 17 second screamers race. I can't help laughing at the ass clowns.

I actually have never witnessed nor been in a street race..I am very deprived. I can't seem to figure out why though. I live just outside philly and i see Ricers constantly but none of them seem to line up at a light. :(

witch model was the 2gen? GSX?, GST? those are the turbo models. and for the 3gen eclipse, im guessing he gots some deep pockets if he turbocharged his car and still went with the exterior mods..there is too many ppl with money these days..

if you live outside Philly, go downtown near the old Vet on friday nights with warm dry weather. Go down front street, holstien ave, and the like, just find a group of hot cars and follow them, eventually you will find some sweet races...just make sure that you don't caught by any cops...they write down license plate numbers, the car gets impounded, and you lose your license just for watching them. It's a rush. To see blue lights hear honking horns and hundreds of people all running for their cars lining the street. It's a fun time...if you're daring.

Ive been to the illegals a couple times, mostly in goldsboro and up near capital (ricers mostly hah hah) (North carolina btw...not many NC peeps in here), with my sis and we never drove up there in her car. WE always rode with someone. The cops came up a few times, and they dont issue passenger/spectator tickets in NC (they might have em but we've never gotten them)...its fun when you got nothing to lose! hah hah

I'm sorry it may be fun for them to unleash thier 17 second 1/4 mile monsters. But from a third person perspective it's ridiclious to see two cars race and an old man with a walker pass them while they are doing it.

personally i like seeing slow cars race. That way i have time to get comfortable and finish a bag of chips in the process. Thats why i dont like real drag cars! They start and blam 7 seconds later its over. How unfun!

just kidding

Hey, just for fun me and my boys used to race his parents beaters, 1 was an old Turbo Chevy Sprint and the other was a 87 MKI MR2 NA.

Racing slower cars is kinda fun as long as you arent taking it seriously, get off it guys...

Yeah its pretty insane, but you come out with some good stories. My friend blew a seal on his tranny and fluid just started pouring out. Funny thing was he blew it at a stop right before the race, so when he raced he had a huge smoke cloud coming off the back as the fluid was hitting his exhaust. He pulled over and we jacked it up to get a better look. So 12 of us were on the side of the road with our cars (4 or 5) parked. Well the cops roll up and everyone scatters. Including two bikes that we racing. One pulled out a wheelie so his license plate was facing the ground and just took off down the road flying while holding the wheelie...it was sweet the cops had no chance of catching him.
So after they chase everyone out they circle back and I had to plead with them not to impound our cars(lucky mine wasn't there) but after 5 mins of talking/pleading we got her to let us off with a stiff warning. Most of our friends left after an hour and me and my friend waited 4 and a half hours for AAA to find Holstein Ave and give us a tow. Fun night...

Sorry for the delay in reposting but I have been busy this weekend (please see thread "good friends in high places..." for further details)
Well I more then likely know the 2nd gen was a gsx seeing as how the tires did not spin that much and just took off. As far as the turbo goes, it was a loud, whether it came from the 2nd gen or 3rd gen, I am not sure of it. These 2 cars did not sound liek they were anywhere near stock times (under 17 thats for damn sure). All I know is that this race was amazing, just so outta nowhere and such beautiful cars. More of a 2nd gen fan over the 3rd but that 3rd gen eclipse still had enough done to it to keep up with a gsx from a stop.
It would be nice if thse guys were newcomers to my area, which i most likely doubt....ah well
