zc drag times

i ran the track last night 1/8th mile. my times were mostly in the 9.6's i got two of them in 9.7's. my fastest was 9.623. my reaction times SUCKED 1.1 mainly and my best reaction was 8.4 so hopefully i can work on those and have a low 9 or so i'd be happy with.

it's a 89 civic hatch std with a stock zc i/e/h/L.fw/ zc tranny.
and i adjusted my valves they were WAY off

R/T has nothing to do with your times

i thought when the light dropped time started. then the reaction time was how long it take for you to get off the line. and it was included into your total times? please advise?...

The reaction time is how fast you act off the green light you can sit there for 4 hour's and still run a 13.8

The time starts when your tires leave the staging beam's or the last beam.

What you want to be good is your 60' time, if your reaction time's are good thats only really needed for bracket racing and like street racing.

Your time's are pretty good, due to the light chasis, what are you traping at in the 1/8th? what are your 60's?

ok here are 5 runs i did with being in the 1/8th
R/t .803 60'- 2.351 ..... 1/8th 9.685 mph- 3.86
r/t .964 60' 2.162 ..... 1.8th 9.623 mph 72.76
r/t .829 60' 2.170.... 1/8th 9.642 mph 72.37
r/t 1.002 60' 2.233 ... 1/8th 9.698 mph 73.23
r/t 1.084 60' 2.3 .... 1/8th 9.695 mph 71.81

those are the times i left out the 330' cause some of the mph are off

What kind of tire's are you using? those 2.1's are decent

It seem's like your mph's are alittle slow for your times but not much, so maby the zc kinda fall's off top end?

What is the sea level at your track? Or where do you live?

well i'm using 15 inch rims with ecsta 711's around 30 psi i honestly don't know what the sea level is i suppose that would be nice to know.... i live in Greensboro, NC i think my mph may be bad because i'm spending a lot of time spinning off the line and 2nd gear. i normally go into 3rd gear no too far before the 1/8th marker. i want to travel to a 1/4th and see what i do.

well if your pulling 2.1 60's your not spinning too much

pretty good so you run about a 14.7-15.0 quarter mile. Most likely 14.9-15.0

839 ft above sea level

those are decent 60 fts but lower your tire pressure a bit you can probably get a 1.9

I know when I had my ZC, I had it stock with only a PVC intake and it was to a 5 speed in a 5th gen hatch on 17's. best I could pull after 3 runs was 16.6. I got 16.9, 16.8 then 16.6 maybe could have gotten it lower after more tries, but then shortly after the trip to the track it broke down, so maybe thats a reason of the slow times, but about it falling at the top end, I know off the line I could about keep up with a mid 15 car of my friends, but then 3rd gear comes and he pulls away pretty good, but on the freeway on the way home from the track I got walked by 95 accord EX sedan with only intake and exhaust, plus its auto with heavy system, tv, dvd player. and he didnt run his car at the track os I dont know what it would have ran but I saw a 96 EX coupe with I/H/E, 5 speed run 17.1/17.2s all day. so my mid 16 car got whooped by a mid 17 second car on the freeway.

why in the hell would you put a zc in a 5th gen hatch?

94tegRS

1. I didnt, and 2. a DOHC ZC has a hell of a lot more power than a CX 70HP D15b

ide rather have a 70hp d15....atleast it's legal

My buddy keeps up with me in his zc-swapped '91 Si hatchback, up until vtec and the later gears. I don't think he'll ever even see 15's in the 1/4 until he slaps some boost on her.

** didn't they make a 1995 25 year edition ZC for 5 gen cars?

civicHBsi91
04-26-2004, 03:03 PM
never heard of that, but a DOHC ZC is OBD0 and a 5th gen is OBD1 its not even legal, some call the single cam vtec motors zc's but i dont know

some single cam motors are called zc's only came in cars in japan...and true it is illegal to put old motor in a newer car.....especially obd0 in where a obd1 motor should be..

I sure as hell wouldnt, 130HP is alot more fun to have under the hood than 70HP, and around here we dont have to go through any inspection/smog crap. only have ot have it inspected if it comes from another state, and still no smog, just inspection. and I didnt put the DOHC ZC into the car, got it like that, the kid blew his stock CX motor with nitrous(funniest thing ive heard for a long time was nitrous on a 70 hp civic) then got the ZC. and the kid couldnt get it running so I got it cheap, ended up taking me 10 minutes to get it to fire up but then fuel cut at 3k cuz of no CAS, so I took my B20 distributor and a bit of ingenuity and I got it running to the redline of the P06 I stole from a parts civic.

Id already got used to, then bored of my cars performance with the ZC pretty quickly, id probably have killed myself if I was trying to drive it around wiht a 70HP 1.5 under the hood

and Ive seen a crx with a ZC with boltons that my friend was playing with and Id bet it ran somewhere in the mid 15's cuz it was almost always dead even unless one person got the jump then theyd win. and his car is a mid 15 second car.

Thats pretty decent runs!

I ran a 9.58 @ 78 mph last time at the track with a very shitty 2.37 60'. The track prep was crappy as hell! :disappoin
