Wasn't sure where to post this, so. Would it be alright to replace a back window of a 1990 mitsubishi mighty max with plexiglass. It wouldn't be perminent, just to save up to buy a glass one.

Only the windshield is all that safety related, so I'm sure you can rig up something that will work temporarily. If you have the means to do so, go for it. Just make sure it looks like it would be safe in the event of a crash.

Chose Lexan instead, it's commonly used in motorsport and with glass in bullet proof glass. It can resist hard impacts without scattering.

How much would that much lexan cost?

More than it's worth if your going to be replacing it anytime soon. Lexan is very soft, and if you have it on for any period of time your window will be so abraded it will be difficult to see out of it. A fingernail registers a 2.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, and can scratch lexan...just to give you an idea of how soft it is. It is however very strong, and in NASCAR they use a protective film to cover them and protect them from damage.
