idler pulley broke off

Please help! One of the idler pulleys disintegrated and now my supercharger doesn't work. I tried to replace the pulley, but it's held on by a weird allen bolt and I think I stripped the bolt. I'm thinking of getting a smaller belt and bypassing the idlers by routing it from the crank to the tension pulley, and then the supercharger. Any thoughts or ideas?

bolt is called a torque star bit and it is reverse threaded
Dont think your going to be able to bypass it
new pulley will run u 20 bucks from dealer
should be a 5 min fix

20 from a dealer...that's about what they are from advance or auto zone. I had that problem, my idler pulley locked up and broke, and stripped my tensioner pulley. Had to replace both of them. And I LOVED the looks on the guys at the parts stores' faces when a GIRL (*gasp* *shock*) comes in and knows what car part she needs.

IT is rather easy fix and you would no be able to reroute the belt without the pulley. Would cause more harm than help

Ilders run about $10-$15 at O' Reilly's. Easy fix if you have the tork bits. 2 of mine went out within a week of each other

Thanks all, I was able to replace the idler and tension pulleys. The guy at Napa said to use an allen wrench. Last time I ask him for advice.

Mine went a couple of weeks ago.My mechanic memoved the pieces and I drove around without the supercharger for a day until the parts came in.It cost me about 200 bucks for both pullies a new belt because it got chewed up and labor.

Jeeze, that's freaking expensive for a pulley. No way would I get an OEM pulley if it cost that much. Like I said, I think I gave 20 bucks for mine. And I didn't pay labor, cause me and my dad replaced them.

He showed the cost of the entire tensioner, not just the pulley.
Pulley alone should be around $20

I just had mine replaced. Cost me $30 from the dealer. Problem was...I didn't know it was reverse threaded....you can see where that's going....broke 2 torx bits...grrr... Anyway...for some reason, the dealer didn't say anything about it being reverse threaded and the one that camin was NOT reverse threaded. Go figure. Anyway....got it out....screwed up some threads and had to put a bolt in to make it work. Problem is now.....I dhave no freaking idea how the belt was routed. Almost seems like I am missing a pulley but I know I'm not. The belt just seems way to big. Anyone have a good diagram for the belt routing???

Thanks for the pic bnaylor3400. That doesn't look like the engine in my 2000. It looks like the tension pulley immediately to the right of the supercharger isn't even in line with it. Mine is. According to your picture...it is not in the series. Any input???

No problem. You had me scratching my head for a while. Hopefully you'll find the info you need in the Bonneville forum. Good luck!
