I want to take my back seat out for a couple of reasons:
1. weight
2. who can really ride back there compfortably?
How do you remove the seat on a 95 GST? It cant be hard? Anyone taken theirs out?
Thanks

I have taken mine out of my 95GS. It is very easy. Just pull two tabs and life the seat, and thein unscrew the seat backs.

It is very easy to remove your back seat. I recently did it. Like he said, pull up the tabs and that will pop up the actual seat part. I the removed the seatbelts too. Unfortunaly, removing the back seat doesn't drop off much weight, only like 8 lbs max. I used the xtra space for a lorger sub box, so actually I gained weight, OH NO!

Hey does anyone know any tricks to lower the seat to get more room in the back? or maybe move it back a couple of inches?

The only thing you could do about the back seat modification is to uncover the seat and cut off some of the foam that is used. It will probably make it just more uncomfortable in the back. Or you could go get some foam and make new rear seats.

The seat bottom is worth about 8 lbs ;) The backs with thier metal frames are worth almsot 50 combined if I remember correctly. Mine are coming out soon. I'm still debating though. They keep my race gas jugs from hitting me in the head if I stop quickly  I'll have to rig somethign up to hold them.
I just went through all this last night for an hour, and I'm still not sure what I want to do. The battery is going to the hatch, I have no choice. I pull the tranny too often, and my 3.5" MAF and intake I'm about to fab up makes it a tight squeeze in the engine bay. But if I want to keep a spare tire there is really no good place to put it on a 2g (1g has a lot more flat space back there). I may have to weld up a battery tray and put it where the CD changer was. But I have to find out if a box is required by NHRA. The other option is to use the battery box I got on that flat part where the seat backs were. I have the required shut off switch for the rear bumper all figured out finally, just have to decide if I am going to cut the fuel pump or coil with the other set of contacts.
What a pain in my ass.

I just took mine out like 5 minutes ago. The bottom one is ~10 lbs. The backs are ~8 lbs each and ~1 lb for the bolts and the 2 buckles.
I still have to remove the seat belts those should be another couple of pounds each.
This is on a 98 gs with cloth seats, so if yours is leather it would be more

at the track i run the battery has to be in a NHRA certified box... yea it sucks but what can ya do! i put mine where the CD changer is, kinda sucks getting at it cause of my stereo but it fit perfectly if you still want and need your spare tire... lol i had to get my car jumpstarted the other day cause i left my parking lights on (moron) and the guy i found to help me pulled up to the front of my car and i was like... uhh you have long enough cables to run to my rear cause mine wont reach... lol hes said why do all you ricer kids move everything around in your cars and gut everything, do you think your fast? i said cause its not like a V8 where 3 people could just crawl under the hood and work on the motor! he said get a real car until then showed him my time slip i have in my glove compartment and he shut up! :p
