Importing '03+ Honda Integra Type R

I am looking into importing an ITR, and I need a little information.

Are there any companies or dealers that will ship and do the importing for you? If there are, what well-known dealers are there without any of them ripping you off or cheating you?

If I buy one and ship it from Japan, how much would the US emissions on the car cost?

Would the new Integra Type R be street-legal?

I doubt the ITR'd be street legal - it probably won't pass emissions testing, it uses a very high octane fuel (I think its 96) and its right hand drive.

www.MotoRex.com imports skylines, but maybe you can get them to hook you up with the ITR....:dontknow:

There is ONE Type R in the states that I know of. It was imported by some company (can't remember which one) They can't drive it on the streets at all. I thought that was strange, they could import it, but couldn't drive it on the street.

You can import whatever the hell car you want, but it has to pass U.S inspection/emissions to actually drive it. If I was ever going to spend all that money importing a car, it'd be a Skyline or something, not the Type R...
Anyway, why not try a conversion (it's been done), it would probably be cheaper in the long run.

Yeah, why a Type R? I mean its very nice, but the aftermarket can make a Type S better.

Um isnt the Type R entirely Different then the Rsx-s? I mean damn in japan it has diff seats, diff tranny/engine, the body uses different material to make it lighter, diff brakes, rotors, wheels, tires, Basically every damn thing is complete from the get go. Hey dont have to do barely any modifications on it. True it makes more sense to get a RSx S here and make it faster but it would be very expensive and stupid to get it to type R status. Just buy a 2000 Type R. THe suspensions better on em any way.

honda jips americans to damn much with cars because they know we will buy them and pay more. Do yall have any idea how cheap the Civic Type R is every where else in the world? lol its rediculous. ONly import company that actually brings most of its cars over is Toyota. HOnda has always been finicky.

The U.S. government is too restrictive. It's not worth it to the car companies to water down most models to pass inspection/emissions. It does suck.

Yeah, its the stupid government - same reason why the EVO took so long and why there isn't a North American R34.

And for the price of importing the Type R and its many improvements over the Type S, you can get aftermarket parts that can exceed the Type R for the same price.
