Looking good Colin! Will the hood be CF?
Hmmm... not sure. probably not, since I don't have carbon fiber decals, and I'm not that experienced with putting decals on complex areas.

Are you going to be a looser (yes with to "o's") and paint it black? I say paint it the same color of the body then. Which should be pink...just joking, what color will you paint it?

Thanks. I wanna hang out sometime joeham, but it's a pain to get from my house to yours.
Mike, If I don't do a carbon fiber decal, i'm just doing it body color. The RX-7 is slated to be painted Tamiya TS-45 Pearl white.

Well, I finished the bodywork, had her primed and painted with the pure white base coat, but then I put my thumb on the wet paint. I know, I know, I'm a genious.
After using several meathods to "fix" the smudge, the entire side was ruined. At that point, after I'd exhausted all of the profanity in my vocabulary, I decided that this paint job was unsavable. It's now soaking in brake fluid, and I'll probably be prepping it for priming again soon... luckily the brake fluid didn't seem to harm the putty, so I won't have to go back into major bodywork.
I'll probably have pics either later today or tomorrow.

I didn't take any pictures of the ruined paint job... I took these right before I primered it, but I didn't post them because the glare from the flash was really bad. I would've taken the pictures where I usually do so you could see everything better, but I was too lazy to get up and walk there.

It's still a pain to get to your house, though, and I don't know north jersey. I dunno about Sema. I'll probably go to HIN at AC this year. I was at the hotrod weekend in wildwood saturday... but you probably didn't go to that.
Anyway, back to the model. I stripped the paint without damaging the bodywork at all! (suprisingly) Brake fluid is some good stuff, boy.
Anyway, it's got the first couple coats of primer on it, and the project is well on it's way again. The paint setback only lasted less than 24 hours!

....Ok, then don't. It's primered. I still need to buff the primer a little bit, but here are some slightly better pictures.

Looks really good Colin. Are you still painting it white? To me the white primer hides all the details.
Also, I think I may have figured out your Alclad problem. The fact that it says Lexan (Which is a polycarbonate plastic) may have something to do with it. Keep messing with it though, Im sure it will work out.

Alclad II has been in rattle cans for a few months to my knowledge. Its just a pain in the ass to find. Check your LHS.

So you saw my website, eh?
Heh, I'll take bigger pictures when I feel like it... it's hard to get the focus indoors, so i have to play with the zoom. I'll take the finished pics outside.
Yeah, I got the chrom from the rattle can, but I don't think it's the right kind. I think it's for RC cars.

Use Macro for your cam.
As far as the Alclad. I told you it was for RC.

Nah man i still haven't gotten mah computer fixed man, the virus is now more severe. It doesn't even let me turn on my DSL without the computer restarting. It seems that once i turn on m DSL the virus takes effect. I tried changing my IP Address but i was unable to fix it. This weekend im going to CHINATOWN! get some model kits for cheap!

Hey Colin Ill post what I posted in your Alclad thread. Try clear coating the chrome before touching it. That may work.

Hmmm, with my experience with metallic silver and "chrome" paints, clear coating, while sealing the color in, will make it dull and gray. I'll try it though, it's worth a shot.

Sometimes it does. The hard part is finding a good clear that wont do that.

Hey guys- Ihave worked a lot with metallic paints doing world war II fighters, and found that Future acrylic floor wax is jus what the doctor ordered for sealing metallics and keeping them bright and " bare" looking- test it out on some scrap bits and see if it works well for you- it dries really evenly, so on parts other than the body of the car, you could apply it by hand with a medium sized brush, or it will go through any airbrush that can shoot acrylics.
The C-West FD is looking great Colin- I have one in the works too- I'll get pics up for you guys soon.
