Hey everyone,
I have a 91 passat gl with a stock heideberg deck in it. The battery on my car died completely and now the deck wont turn on. You have to punch in a security code to turn it back on. This happend before and went down to the volkswagen place and the they charged us 50 bucks to give us a key code. I had it writted on the car manual but a fiew months ago someone broke in and stole everything including the freakin manual.
Does anyone know the key code to turn my deck back on? I dont wana pay another 50 bucks to get it fixed.
Thanx in advance.

find another dealer! to my knowledge they are the only ones that can get you a code. You will need the radio pulled out to acess the numbers on the back of it, (any stereo store should be able to do that, then take those numbers done to you r dealer with the vin number and they can get you a new code. I personly dont think it is a high theft item and wrote mine right on the radio. in the back

no all vw dealers charge atleast 40 bucks to give u the code.
I was hopeing someone here knew the code thing. I payed 40 bucks before and gonna pay 40 bucks again. Its not really worth the cost. Id be better off just not dealing with the headache and just buying a new deck. But thats more money. Its an old car and i dont wanna put any more money into it than its already costing me. Plus im gonna be selling it and buying something that doesnt cost so much for repairs. Hope someone can help me by jus giving me the code if they have it.

Each code is specific to that radio. I just went by yesterday & got a code for a '95 I was working on, the guy had no manual & I had to disconnect the battery. All I needed was the VIN & the number off the top of the radio, no money required. I've heard of people finding their code printed on a label on the side of their spare tire well. At least on some Golf/Jetta models it was put there & the pre-delivery mechanic was supposed to remove it & put it in the manual or something.

Each dealer seems to run their own way. This happens alot so perhaps a previous owner wrote the code on the radio, I suppose you would have seen it last time though.

Write it on the radio.
