My friend wants to get a Type R, he doesn't want one with TOO much mileage...maybe something around 60K miles. He's got 7K saved up, how long does he have to save up to get a Type R that has 60K miles on it? Thanks Ya'll!! :iceslolan

how long does he have to save
Now how would we be able to know how long he has to save without knowing how much he can save in a certain amount of time? :icon16:

I just blue booked Type-Rs and I'm from Northern California. A '97 came to around $11,000, while a 2001 was rated at about $16,000, both with 60,000 miles. That should give you an idea.

the type r's that are in good condition sell for more now than they retailed for in their production date.

it is a very rare car, and a race car out of the box.

go look around on autotrader... a lot go for 20-25k

The value on the type r go up as less become available.

Yeah I've noticed that highly desirable cars like Type-Rs and Supras sell for well over their Blue Book values. If anyone is bored sometime, check this out...Link (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6447&item=2475152983&rd=1) . Obviously this car has been highly modified, but still. Anayway...if you want a good idea of what Type-Rs are selling for check this out...Link (http://search.ebaymotors.com/ws/search/SaleSearch?bs=Search&categorymap=6001&catref=C6&from=R2&gotopage=&lopg=&maxrecordsperpage=50&query=type&sacategory=5335&sapricehi=&sapricelo=&satitle=type&sbrftog=1&siteid=100&socolumnlayout=3&sofocus=bs&sorecordsperpage=50&sosortorder=2&sosortproperty=2&sotr=2&st=2) . That will give you a good idea of what to expect. That's how I find out how much certain cars are going for.

i dunno where you guys live, but a 97 Integra TYPE r would be nice for 11-13k . Hell, the cheapest around here is 20 grand for that car..

By the way, I try to blue book a Type R on KBB.com, but with my zipcode, it says that the type R doesnt exist in its database.. odd?

its a good car, but its by no means good for that price. Its actually not worth 20k at all. Id rather just get an RSX S , it would have much lower miles and a 6 speed tranny. Its just stupid how the Type R is the price it is, i could understand a few grand over the GSR price, but not a ridiculous amount. its not worth it at all.

I would love to drive a Type R around the track, but I would never own one. The majority of Type-R's have been broken into stolen and stripped, thats why the price is still sky high.

I couldnt sleep at night with an ITR outside... I'd hafta protect it with a shotgun... thats why I bought a faster, RWD, less risky sports car...

There are R's for sale all around my area, an 97-98 mainly goes for about 15 to 17 while an 00-01 are still strongly in the 20;s. Ill tell you when, having owned both a GSR & Type-R the differences are enormous. The stability and ridgidness in the Type-R is so much higher than the GSR. I used to AutoX my R in Philly and I ran my Turbo GSR around the same track setup. The Type-R ( which only had a AEM CAI ) was slightly quicker around the 35 second course mainly due to the tires, brakes and the stiffness. My GSR has hugh power but not the legs to back it up. The differences never became so apparent until you race both of them. I would buy an R anyday over a RSX/Supra/RX-7 but not an EVO or 350Z.

Actually they do still make the type R. Just not in the U.S. They do have a type r in Japan. It is the RSX body DC5, but in japan RSX's are called honda integra's. I have herd rumour that the new R is going to be coming into the U.S. but who knows. It was just a rumour.
