Was over at Claus's new place earlier today. While there I took a few pics of his new sliders. Wow are they beefy.

Nice place BTW.

I'm sure Claus would like to speak up here but he just moved and the @home morons couldn't get him hooked up today like he promised. No phone either. Or cable TV. So I bought him Office Space :D

Lots of rust already ... those things will need a good sanding and Por-15. I'll definitely be treating mine when they get here.

Who made the sliderz? They don't look like EOE, but I can't be sure. Calmini?

They're custom built. Claus' girlfriend's uncle (in Saskatchewan) has the whole enchilada, a shop with all the tools and tons of experience. Claus dropped off some diagrams and photos at one point (of the Calminis), and drove out there this Christmas to see what he came up with. A few cuts and welds later, and they bolted right on.

He's going to fab 10 more pairs and will haul them down here to Vancouver sometime in February for the rest of the guys in PNWX.

Looks good and sturdy! I thought they were going to be powdercoated though? Are these not powdercoated because they were the test set, or am I mistaken?

Doesn't really matter. I can paint and repaint as necessary. Infact, if they aren't going to be powdercoated I'll just take mine without paint (though primered would be nice!).

Thanks for posting pictures!

ChuckH, I forgot to show you the sample kit of POR-15 I bought that would work great on the sliders! The kit has the cleaner and primer and paint included in the kit.

Rick you have the EOE sliders correct? How many bolts are there at each attachment point?

On the Xlax sliders there seemed to be only one per bracket though maybe it was my vivid imagination. I would think that one bolt would not be enough.

2 bolts per attachment point for a total of 6.

Like Mr T said it is two per attach point which means six per side. I also put a little bead weld across the bottom lip just in case the bolts ever worked there way out! Schlud checked on his before we went to GOXII and found a couple of them were loose!

Yes, it is vivid. There are two heavyweight bolts on each part, total of 6 on each side. The sliders are 2x3 steel, the arms are braced, the truck was hi-lifted on each side to bring both wheels off the ground and there was no bending.

Scott, it sounds like you're not impressed, why don't you just get the "real" ones and pay twice as much? :p

Where do I say that I'm not impressed with them? They looked well built to me. I was simple asking a question.

To me they look very well built. I think scott was saying if there was 1 bolt, you should have more to support them.

I guess I should have taken my Ritalin or Flintstones Chewables or whatever this morning, my message obviously came out wrong -- sorry Scott! "Jens doesn't play well with others"

I have only 1 suggestion so far, the plates/braces that go against the frame that the bolts go through could be wider, hopefully spreading the pressure points against the frame to avoid any potential frame warping or bending under high stress. This might also allow a third bolt per plate, hopefully at the bottom to negate any need to weld them permanently. It would be nice to be able to remove them (to scrape the rust off LOL :D ) or for any other reason.

Ok, time for my electro shock therapy ... :bloated:

Thanks Jens you're a class act. I was having a real sh%^ day at work today and when I read your post I was so .

With all the 4 X 4 equipment being "borrowed" in the Van area I was thinking of having a few spot welds done to keep someone from walking off with them. I would really love to be able to remove them between runs but I have no were to store them.

Ok treat me like the bitch I am..........

The scoop on the Sliders:

4x2 1/4inch steel on 3 2x2 beams attached to a metal plate with a brace. We attached them with 2 high grade bolts. Louis (who made them) lifted the rear end of the truck off the ground on the sliders to prove they were strudy. in the pics you see how they rusted, we ran out of time (I was in Saskatoon) so I did not treat them other than with a coat of black rust paint.

The idea was to give the guys in PNWX a chance to get Sliders below the cost of the "brand names" I have ordered 10 pairs and will pass them on at cost which is $300.00 CANADIAN a pair

I figure the cost is broken down as follows:

Materials $120 (the bolts alone was $3 a piece)
Labour $ well you do the math
Transport from Saskatoon to Vancouver

Again I am NOT out to make ANYTHING other than happy friends out of this.

That's a great price. EOE is sell untreated ones for 270 American.

So will the shipped ones be treated or will we need to do that?

Do the bolts going through the frame?

Doh I really should have been paying more attention last Saturday.

I was aiming for some sort of treatment...

The bolts fit in the holes that were drilled for your step rails so they go partially through the frame.

And yes I thought you were crawling on the garage floor to get a look!
