Piece of crap forum, no answers on my question

So much for being a Ford enthuiast forum, I posted a question about how to change spark plugs on a 4.6L, no replies...what's up? No moniters or Ford enthusiast, geez, guess I know how to make my Expedition run better, just tow it!

Turn the sparkplug counter-clockwise to remove. Turn the sparkplug clockwise to install.

You must have patience, those that know how to do these things on specific vehicles aren't on as often as those of us that peruse the Street Racing forum for example.

they are normal spark plugs - just in a very bad location - they come out just like all the others - guess we need to know what part of the job you need help with

The #4 plug can be a real PITA. The key is using the right length extension. Too long and you won't get it in there. Too short and it won't reach. I use "wobbly" extensions, which also help a lot. Also, some of the electrical equipment on the firewall can be unbolted and pushed out of the way.

I've never personally seen a 4.6L Expedition, but have changed many plugs on 5.4L Expeditions our Sheriff's Department run. Getting the coils off is a piece of cake, if you have a 1/4" drive 7mm swivel socket and a 6" extension. The plugs are another matter. My friend at the local Ford dealer claims to be able to change a set of plugs in 2 hours, my best time has been 6 hours, thanks to Ford placing the heater hoses, wiring harnesses, and A/C lines directly over the plug holes on the right bank(pass. side) The drivers' side requires the removal of the power steering support bracket, and air inlet hose assembly. Take care to clean the threads in each plug hole, apply anti-sieze compound to the plug threads, and USE A TORQUE WRENCH. Trust me, you don't want to replace a cylinder head on one of these...
In answer to another post I recently read; yes, there are several companies offering spark plug thread repair kits. Some are good, some aren't worth the effort. Ford Rotunda Parts even has a rethread kit.
