wrx sti vs rbpowered 240sx

alrite so just for fun,

wrx STI mild mods for drivetrain and powertrain, header, exhaust, and intake

vs.

240 with a rb25det with powertrain, header, exhaust, and intake and fuel management and suspension including a LSD and BOV

what are your opinions?

tough, but I'd put my money on the 240sx. Just b/c it's lighter and engine wise they seem pretty evenly matched.

With the Same Mods (Intake, Boost Controller, Exhaust) The STi Would Own the RB from any kind of start. 260WHP Vs. 220WHP (most likely the gains from Mods would be similar) is something i doubt The 240s Lower Weight could make up for.

Anyhoo Out at the autocross its awsome seeing the STis launch - a little sidstep and some wheel hop then its gone.

well yea STi would beat any RWD car off launch. But 1/4 mile, would be hard but I'd say the RB powered 240

STi with ease I say, I saw an STi smoke a Z06 Corvette and a supercharged 96 Z28 Camaro.

the STi will BLOW HIM AWAY OFF THE LINE and the 240 would never catch up after that. The STi would have better high end performance so the 240 wouldn't catch up... now in a road coarse we might be talking differently.

yup the sti gets my vote also, they are bad ass form the factory with mods can only make them great, now sti vs. skyline gtr is a good match up..

Give respect to the STI for a greatly engineered car, BUT, I give it to the 240SX, come on guys, with the same mods, the Rb will give more power. how many 600hp WRX are there?.........a handfull, how many 600hp RBs are there tons.

Seriously, its an RB25DET (not RB26DETT) in a 240, that combination is shit compared to the STi. The RB would throw off the weight ratio, and it wouldnt be that fast. The STi is a fast ass car, and its awd. Anyone who says the 240 will win should die.

the rb doesnt thow off the wieght of the car that much. if you used the rb25 forexample, it would actually even out the car more.

seriously.. frist of all.. stock 240 comes at a 48/52 weight distrubtion, so thats wit the ka24 .... the rb25... with .1 extra liter and engine itself is about 60-100 poutns heavier..then relocate the battery to the trunk..and BAM! with some suspension upgrades and tranny mods, and a VSLD ... BAM ... and then again if u know how to launch.... another BAM.. so all i kan say is that a rb25 powered 240 is a diamond in the rough..and why not even twin turbo it?

240SX wins, RB25 has alot of power to begine with, make better power from the same mods as a sti.

Unless you're auto-x'ing or drifting distribution doesn't really mean that much.

It works like this, AWD gives you a massive jump from launch but the system looses hp in the top end.

And whoever said that they weren't impressed by the STi after the test drive, what have you been driving because that is an amazing car and you can feel the power through all the gears.

As to the person who asked how many 600 hp WRX's do you see, lots, go to a car show, even a lot of show cars I've seen with 500-600 hp so needless to say imagine o the streets.

Woops, my mistake. But would it be safe to say the STI is nearly maxed out? As far as mods go, people usually swap in the JSPEC engine and work from there?

The STi engine is nowhere near maxed out but the turbo doesnt have much room to go. I think the RB25 is the same way too.

what bothers me about these type threads is that it always turns into "oh yeah well an stock STi couldnt beat a 600Hp T-72 RB25" or vice versa. in my opinion the STi has a stronger Engine and Mod for Mod it would win from a stop.

how does a near stock STI (minor bolt ons) do against a heavily modded 240... gee i wonder?? give the STI the same parameters for modding and the STI wins hands down...
