blown fuse

i smelled wires burning, looked down had no int. lights,no outside lites except headlights.it had burned the headlight switch, the brown wire w/white stripe, changed whole switch, still blows 30 amp fuse for dash& outside lights,thanks for any help

you could try unplugging all of the lights and using a known good bulb, check each socket until you blow a fuse, then start tracing the wires from that point back to the problem. If all is unhooked and it still blows a fuse when the switch is turned on, it's probably in the harness itself (if the switch has been replaced).

Hello,
I just discovered that the dimmer portion of the headlight switch in my 97 F150 was causing a constant drain on my battery. I noticed a long time ago that the thumbwheel dialwas finicky and worked sporadically. These headlight switches seem to be problematic. I am wondering if other users here have had similar problems..?
